That's a good idea! Here's one, right here. Reaver34567. Eifer is super nice, she isn't naming names. But I will! Grenoire. It's Grenoire! That little cashew picks me with no RP every day I play. Be it at an area transition, or while I'm standing around. Maybe he thinks I can't see him while he's stealthed? He walks up, no emote, bumps me, and then flees with the speed of a thousand coked-up fruit flies! I literally do not even have time to react with any sort of typed response, before he is WAY outside the range of my speech.

What can I do, aside from ignore him? I don't miss the gold, but it's like having someone run up and spit on my shoes every day. It's just bad role play, all around. If someone was pickpocketing me, and considerate to the victim by offering actual input outside of abuse in game mechanics, I would have lots of fun.. Say, an emote? *Jars Maximillian with his shoulder, accidently*.. "Pardon me, Saer! So clumbsy today"

It's just damn annoying, is all. Sorry for my rant.

But do you spot him doing so? Because if his Sleight of Hand beat your Spot, he doesn't break any rules except being a little inconsiderate of your feelings.Though if you do spot him doing it once, you could set him on the hostile and beat the crap out of him. Unless he is masked. But even then, you could become more distrustful to small halflings entering your "personal space". And tell them to not stand so close to you unless they want to get something broken. Basically, I think the entire situation can be properly RPed without any need to call DMs unless the person in question abuses the game mechanics in ways stated above.

My PC had only one encounter with a pickpocketer (that she is aware of). I don't remember who exactly it was, but it was some halfling a few months back when she just started out. She met him in the bandit cave, the halfling just walked up to her, no hello or anything and tried to pick her pocket. After he failed his check, he said "Oh, crap" and received a pretty good beating. I haven't been pickpocketed since.

I am distrustful, and would state my claim if he was in the area for longer than two seconds. Boop! Gold. Boop! Flee. See you tomorrow, Max!

I'm going to refrain from further posts, so that a DM can see Eifer's post and respond appropriately when the time comes.

Do not out players or characters please. This is not the place for that. WE know who the culprits are and they are being observed. We are watching for exploits and beleive you me, exploiters will get no mercy from me.

If it continues and you feel you are being griefed with little to no RP and have no other IC recourse to confront your antagonist, contact a DM immediately.

keep in mind that PP requires no RP to do and it is auto pvp consent if you spot it, if you can spot it beat him up for it, if you cant spot it there is really little you can do other than yell at him for bumping you

and if he does RP a bump and grab and you still dont see it there is still little you can do, if you can see him getting close to you just stay away from him and tell him if he gets in your bubble you will beat his face in

I suspect the reason people don't actually RP Sleight of Hand (and if they do, they stick to the "bumping" into someone) is that they are a bit anxious about other people instantly rolling Spot checks to try and out them. I personally would like to know though, if you try to pick someone's pocket in company of several people, do you have to beat their Spot skill as well?

IF someone were to actually walk up and RP it for whatever reason and they rolled SoH, then everyone within view would get a spot check, if the guy is in plain sight

if he is hiding and he rolls SoH he would need to roll hide also because you would have to see him first before you could spot him trying to take something, so you would need two spot rolls, tho most have higher stealth than SoH

No.

I didn't mean mechanics of the game. More like a RP opportunity. If they roll a spot to see what you have done. I had people read my lips with their spot while I whisper and since I know it is a legal use of the skill, I allow them to do so.

I see. Thanks.

Had a question related to this.
I had a few times people that PP run into me on the road.
IC wise I don't see them doing it OOC I know they do it, the fact that they also change their run direction to bump into me.
This goes with no RP.

Now IC wise running into some one in the middle of no where can be considered a hostile action.
But that aside isn't this just poor RP behaviour to do so (it is still with in the rules).
Question is if you know the people that PP like that with no RP is it allowed to behave to set them on hostile and maybe act (if your char is that type).

I guess the answer (without a staff ruling) would be, what would you really get out of it (beating them down)?

You know they won’t give you the gold back, they already proved to you that they aren’t willing to put in the RP effort to PP so I am guessing they wouldn’t put in the RP effort at consequence. You can’t ‘prove’ they PP’d you without your character detecting it and getting a screenshot of the notification, so it would probably just end up in a he-said, she-said cry fest.

You chasing them to kill them doesn’t cause them XP loss, won’t get your coin back (and its only a small amount anyway), and likely won’t have any lasting RP consequence.

Yes, its annoying, stupid, and ‘wrong’.. but sometimes on servers like these we have to deal with the slackjawed half-wits that are allowed to stay here. No reason to get yourself into IG drama for nothing. Might was well keep moving and ignore the person.
