Comings and goings ...

The water along the coast south of Ulgoth’s Beard rippled as the fish came up to feast on the mosquitoes in the late evening. Aaron’s fishing line bobbed along in the water, as he stood in the reeds along the coast. The silence was soon broken with the sound of weapons leaving their sheaths, and a bow being knocked with an arrow. Looking over his shoulder he quickly made out two men nearby, a third up on a hill with a bow trained on him. Setting his pole down and resting his hand on the pommel of his blade, Aaron asked how he could help the men.

The leader, a hunch backed dwarf, shuffled closer, his wheezing breath came in short spurts.

“It sheems you have been making inquires about merchant interests in the city.”
“What interest is that to you?”
“Zhe question ish…What interests ish it to you?”
“My business is my own, thank you. I do not appreciate being harassed by armed men.”

The Dwarf sucks in saliva and chuckles.

“Who sent you to confront me?”
“You shee…Some might find it odd that someone inquires into trade matters…With little to trade.”
“One must start somewhere.” Aaron deflected.
“I think this lad needs a lesson…Boyz.” The dwarf takes a few steps back.
“With pleasure, boss.” One of the cutthroats sneered as he stepped towards Aaron.

Aaron’s eyes took in the scene, watching the men, their weapons, movements. Without time to put his armor on and change from his fishing attire, he unslung his shield from his back and drew his sword.

“Come then…”

The battle was intense. Squaring off against the nearest thug, Aaron was shot several times by the bow wielding cutthroat on the hill. Without the protection of his armor, the arrows stuck solidly into his back. Fighting through the pain, Aaron was able to slay the first cutthroat and charged up the hill. Though he was sluggish from the many arrows that struck him, and without the ability to neither don his armor nor call on wards to protect him, he engaged the bowman, only to be struck down. His vision faded a moment until the dwarf struck him a few times across the face. Coming to, Aaron realized he was sitting up, his hand held behind him by the bowman.

“Now…As I shaid, it would be wise to stick to your own affairs.”

The dwarf struck Aaron in the gut with the butt of his axe, then across the face. The last thing he remembered for several minutes was falling to his side was the men, laughing as they broke his leg, left the scene. Once consciousness was regained, Aaron limped and crawled as best he could to the Bearded Mermaid in Ulgoth’s Beard. Losing consciousness again upon reaching the Inn, the Inn’s staff took him in and gave him a bed. Aaron would wake some time later, and after treatment of his wounds and leg, would send a runner to Lady Elvina with a message informing her that he would need to recover for some time in Ulgoth’s Beard before being able to continue with the investigation.

*After speaking to Aaron and hearing his horrific account, she told him to rest and recover.. they may not know he is OSR but they do have a make on him now and know he was snooping around. She tells him she will need to get ahold of Elethineth and devise a new strategy especially for the safety of the squires.*

After helping look to the recently discovered body in the corn field, Thedran goes to the man's residence. He attempts to investigate the surrounding area, and house if permitted. He also offers sanctuary to his reamining family should they need it.

The family is grieving and accepts Thedran's well wishing. There is nothing apparently unusual about the dwelling and surroundings. The family exclaims that he simply went for a late night stroll... and never made it back.

*Thedran was visiting the residence of a man found face down in a corn field near the graveyard that morning. The man was pale and his body was largely drained of blood.*

[The Mirari]

The Mirari have heard the rumors that dead bodies have washed up in the docks, and that seems to be a mystery that, if solved, would further prove the Mirari's skill at gathering knowledge, and the knowing of secrets.

The group arrives shortly at the Docks, and begins to investigate....

////FYI, I will be taking a vacation in about 3 weeks. If we want to schedule a climax to this event thread, it maybe a good idea to do it before then. Otherwise we may get a long lull in this plot arch. Let me know.

Sophia(a barmaid in Elfsong Tavern ): "I tells ya. Me sees it with me own eyes. That Herran fella weren't bitten. Him be havin blood pourin from his own mouth! And that girl with him had blood on her front, she did. If anyone be a vampire...well, I'm just sayin..."

For whatever reasons, Herran does nothing to dispel these rumors. While in Baldurs Gate he remains hidden within the theater during the day. At night he is oft spotted around the docks or in the sewers simply roaming .... or so it seems.

Those he talks to he tells of a planned gala of sorts to be held within the Theater in the not too distant future.

One morning after returning from her nightly vigil walking the streets near the Helm and Cloak, Ele receives at message from the Innkeeper. Without resting or returning to her rented room she heads south to Doron Amar.

On her long walk her mind wanders, concerned and worried about the wounded elfs health. Breathing deep and resolving to press the hunt further, she considers a quick stop at the Keep of the Silver Rose on her return trip.
