Comings and goings ...
A large half-elf, with the beginnings of a black beard, can be seen lurking in some unscrupulous areas of the docks. He does little to hide his presence, instead relying on size to deter the less savoury citizens of this district. Several such characters stop to 'chat' throughout the night but all are quickly sent on their way, not wanting to linger.
As dawn approaches the half-elf moves off toward the Elfsong Tavern, his shoulders slightly slumped and his head filled with just a bit more information ...

A moon elf enters the Helm and Cloak Inn in the Noble District. After some time in the office with the Innkeepers she departs.
Later a pageboy flips the "Vacancy" sign over and the bouncer appears more attentive.
In the main room downstairs, rumor has it the elf has rented both the "Sea of Swords" and "Cloakwood" rooms, as well as the private dining hall and the kitchen staff put on special retainer.

At the Shelf of Many Books the same elf lady is seen browsing the stacks seemingly spending many frustrated hours browsing the Tethyr and Undead sections muttering "nonsense, nonsense, and (rolling her eyes) more nonsense. Why don't they just write plainly.?"

At odd times of the day, particularly on the darkest nights, the moon elf can be seen coming and going from the Helm and Cloak Inn.
The cleaning maids whisper among themselves about her strange hours. One claims the spell the elf casts before leaving the upstairs is a spell of undead detection.

Aaron Lyonaler, sat at the Elfsong tavern sipping his drink. His eyes never lingering long on any one patron, but his ears were open and actively listening to conversations he could make out over the hum of the tavern. His attire was completely different from the norm. No longer did he wear the red he was known for, all markings removed to signify him in any way. Using the guise of a traveling sell-sword and housecarl for hire, he went about the city “looking for work”. Taking on odd jobs delivering goods for a Steward at the docks and rounding up a ship captain’s crew allowed him to go about the different districts and the ability to conversate with a great deal of people in the shops and taverns about town, people that surely would hear many rumors. The upper class citizens were no different and loved their rumor mongering, thus much of his time was spent in service to wealthy households as a housecarl would allow him the opportunity to overhear the whisperings of the rich and nobles of the city. Even the farmers that tilled outside the city walls, but came into the city to trade, must have some rumors to divulge, for which Aaron found himself working odd jobs, even stuffing scarecrows with fresh hay. One precaution was always taken prior to leaving his room at the inn, the man always cast Detect Undead on himself before he made his way about town.

For those listening carefully...
The only rumors of note that are garnered are of the nearly weekly affair bodies bodies turning up in the docks district. They of lower level criminal elements, and are found dead, pale, cold to the touch, and with no obvious wounds or markings. These stories mix with other - more common - bodies found face down in the ditches at the Docks... with obvious wounds and markings.
-------
Local temples have taken to burning some of the bodies brought to them under mysterious conditions.
-------
Local authorities are dismissive if questioned about the bodies found near the docks. It seems to be a normal state of affairs in that area. The authorities focus on larger priorities.

One John Roland may seem increasingly inquisitive to the authorities about the cases.

Calo'mel GlitterHands can be seen asking Lady Alyth of the Elfsong Tavern about that "job" he inquired about some time ago. After hearing the rumors coincide with his firsthand experience he slips a healthy tip to the bar owner.

At the Helm and Cloak the chef is heard bellowing from the kitchen.
"More saesonin'?" The burly bearded hinn swings his mincing knife wildly in an arc before attacking the ingredients before him on the cutting board. "She's daft, I say. Tell that elf I cannae use more. Else she be smellin o'gaarlik."

Later, no one notices a missing clove as the chambermaid slips one into her pocket having seen the elf tie a string to one and hang it around her neck before tucking it under her tunic.

As the morning sky began to light Elethineth stepped around a puddle of filth and spotted the body. Uttering a few words in elven she reached down, touching the side of the dead man's head. No warmth reached her. With some effort she rolled the body over.
Blank eyes stared back. A rough hewn face, a nose marked by past broken incidents and pale. More pale than it should be. Nondescript clothes but curiously, a knife still sheathed on his belt.
Hearing movemnt around her, she calls out instructions to those begining to gather round. "That cargo cart, bring it here lad. Grab the feet and lift. Ready? One, two, three," grunting as the body was swung onto the planked bed.
"This way, to a temple" as she lead the way without further explanation. The cart rolled slowly through the throng.

The priests at the temple take the body to the sepulcher. There, rites are given, and the body is prepared for cremation. Some quick attempt is made to notify next of kin. As the sun sets, before a small gathering the body is sanctified and burned upon an altar.

Uriel arrives in Baldurs Gate and heads immediately to the Temple of Torm to offer his tithes and prayers. He spends some time speaking with the familiar faces, sharing a meal with them before praying and departing. During the meal he asks of unusual events in the city, of occurrences at the temple.

Aomir, the large half-elf now sporting a rough black beard, can be seen talking heatedly with the Gate's gravekeeper near dusk. It appears he is demanding to see any unburied bodies. He gets his way and brushes past the startled man. Checking first the faces, of which some he shows signs of recognition, then the necks and shoulders. It is unclear if he places more importance on how the person died or who they were when alive ...

/////For inquiries, state your intent, and support it with skills/stats/feats etc, from your character sheet (I will include considerations such as class and faith in helping you get to the bottom of things).
Be careful about taking liberties with RPing NPC reactions (this can get out of hand pretty quick). State intent, support it with your skills (character sheet), and I'll give you the fallout.... so far nothing greatly in excess of what I already posted has been learned.////

Uriel learns that several of the temples have been discovering the taint of corruption and undeath on several anonymous deceased being brought to the temples. The temples have taken to sanctifying and discretely burning the corpses.

Re: Comings and goings ...
A young cleric of Lathander has been seen recently heading into the sewers of the city, offering food, blankets, clothing and healing to the homeless that now live there. For the First few days he makes small talk with them, tending would and examining them from head to toe to make sure they are in as good as health as possible, healing what and where he can.
He tries to learn who they are, where they come from in an effort to befriend them before moving on to more ominous questions leaning towards if there number has been dwindling, if anyone has had any mysterious illnesses that they recovered from later, anyone disappeared for a time only to show up again with an odd explanation of where they had been ,or no explanation at all.
Noah works on an assumption that the dead or dying may not be killed right away, but keep alive for many days.
Noah continues to work his healing and kindness among the poor, homeless, and the dregs of the city, doing his best to find out what he can. Many people in large cities tend to look through or around the homeless, and they forget they can see and hear as well as anyone.
