Re: Incoming Update
It was a valiant attempt, guys and gals. Keep your chin up. Looking forward to bits and pieces that can be slid on the Server without too much hassle in the future.

*claps fervently* you guys did an amazing job playing with those 2 files and the 2Da is not a easy task at all and stuff like that happens where things glitch up don't be disheartened if at first you don't succeed keep trying.

Re: Incoming Update
So. . . quick question, can we expect all of this in a couple months or within a year? Will it be released bit by bit?

Re: Incoming Update
Its a matter of weeks from my perspective.
It was canceled because of a schedule conflict which would interrupt the patching process. Given that there were two nasty bugs, one with languages, and one with the context menu crashing, we needed to be able to fix stuff fast.
We were expecting issues. There always are. Back when we did the first framework implementation we had a week of funky magic & feat bugs. Some folks might remember that.

Re: Incoming Update
It was a valiant effort, and there was some really, really cool stuff in there.
Sometimes it's hard to offer suggestions/ideas as a player without feeling like you're just being critical, so please take this in the spirit with which it is intended:
I completely understand the desire for the grand spectacle of such an update. To do so much at once has a 'wow' factor that is not to be ignored. However much of the update was also small things that we *know* work that it seems are being held back for these bigger things that are harder to implement. It would be nice to have some of these smaller script fixes etc implemented now so we can enjoy them without having to wait potentially weeks on the bigger stuff.
This is coming from the 'other side'. Maybe there's value beyond the psychological spectacle in trying to do so much at once in a single update. I guess it's just a shame from this side to see a lot of cool stuff held back because of other cool stuff that doesn't quite work right yet.

Re: Incoming Update
We've definitely considered doing a staggered update, but (as I understand it) the content we're pushing out now is more than a year's worth of combined work -- and a lot of it is hooked together, with scripts from one piece of content relying on scripts from another, and so on.
While a staggered, more measured update would be the ideal model for content implementation -- and will be the model we push forward with once the content backlog is cleared out -- Rasael's noted for me that separating everything into more bite-sized pieces would cost the developers an enormous amount of man hours.
Since that's a big lift for Rasael and Duster (the primary developers working on staging this update), we're going to try to integrate it into a seamless, full-launch update first, even if it does cost us a few weeks to work out the kinks. And if we simply can't get that to work? Then we'll probably work on breaking it apart and doing slower, piecemeal updates over the course of the 2016 calendar year.

Re: Incoming Update
Even though I rarely (or not at all) play NWN2 these days, I can't help but to say big thank you to all the people putting in their hard work, free time and hard earned knowledge into this server without any pay. I really admire that because that kind of selflessness is a rare quality. Keeping this server alive and ticking on a game which is now almost a decade old would be impossible without people like you. So thanks once again and good luck in future work.

Indeed, soon we can end our opponents rightly. Will be in once update returns. It also has a new custom animation if I remember right!
