Depends on what base character you want to play with.

I play mostly bard chars and they can pretty much solo everything. But recently, I made a charisma-based bard with techsmith and damn that gondsman was pretty sturdy. With bard buffs, songs, scroll buffs, and divine buffs. My gondsman had a stats (I'm just recalling the stats on top of my head):

Medium Gondsman:

AC = about 60 (Base AC 44, +2 Dex Buff, +7 Inspire Defense with Epic Inspiration, +4 Deez Repulsive Barrier, +4 Chorus of Heroism, + etc Haste, Other stuff).

Damage and hit wise, buffed him with Bull strength, flame weapon scroll and GMW, I gave him a warhammer, and his crits are 100+ damage.

He soloed that pit fiend in nashkel mines which surprised me, also he handled those frost giants quite well. So yeah at the end of the day, it depends on the base class you wanna play i.e Cleric, Arcane Wiz, etc...

That is some risky business. Does this include when the server drops? When this does happen, the weapon becomes useless? Or I need to just spend another 500 gold to create a new gondsman?

Lol the weapon doesn't become useless. Just the value of it on merchants becomes 0 as in nil.

As for the gold to create gondsman, as long as it doesn't die/destroyed, you can just resummon it for free.

that's a relief. my gondsman is building a collection of rare silver and mithral weapons for his gondsman, i almost had a heart attack.

I at least couldn't give my gondsman a weapon that had the value of 0. Might have changed in the meantime.

Yep as I thought, it gives me the message >name< is not a valid weapon for your Gondsman!

Seriously. 20 ac base. 5 def, 6 mage armor, dex bonus. Looking at low 30s for ac? Assuming no upgrades in ac. That wont survive much in mid level let alone epics. ??
Isn't this meant to be an armor plated machine of wonder? Not some squishy fleshy summon.

When I summon mine... at level one Techsmith (around level 12 or 13 I think) he had 35 AC base. I do not see any options to increase his AB directly or I would just do that instead of boosting strength.

Ah thats heaps better. If the base is 35. Woth option to upgrade plus buffs.

Nope, it was 34 base, I put one build point to AC... so still, 34 base is pretty good.

6+2+5+1+34= 48 ... nothing to sneeze at there with the AC department.
