Does the item still exist? How was it obtained? If it's in existence, why would it matter if a DM gave one away for an RP reward finishing a plot?

If he was told to not give something out, and gave it out anyway, or gave something out without proper permissions or documentation.. it doesn't matter what it was. I don't see any argument here. "I don't like the rules" may gain sympathy (believe me I know) but it pretty well forces their hand.

Please keep this in topic. If specific item stats and such are to be discussed it can be done in a suggestion thread.

These item debates and DM handed out items are an ever occurring debate. Would it not be simpler to make the DMs only give out items that are in the actual loot script? Or add these unique items that are so attractive to that loot table?

It is not like that will make them even remotely common after all, or diminish their value.

Just FYI, he gave me the regeneration ring (Well, looted from a chest Lobo made.), which I then gave to someone else as a reward for helping my character through an event that Lobo was doing that I had stumbled into that everyone else left except me and one person from CK I dragged along.

I believe the event was originally intended for Sirion, but Sirion wanted no part of it and I had stumbled into it. Lobo just kinda rolled with it though.

As a golden-oldy player, I did not realize this regeneration ring was so coveted as there was a time when they were rare, but they did show up from time to time, I ended up giving it to the other player simply because I had chosen to take a plot item instead (Which ended up going nowhere, but thats life.). If I had known the ring was not supposed to be there or was an accident when I first found it, I would have said something.

There was no way for me to know this though. I did not think it was a big deal.

Personaly i rather have a DM that logs in alot and screws up now and then , Then a DM that logs in 1 time a month.

Also i though it should be fun to DM here and was planning on try to aply agen next year but after reading how they get treated and tosses to the curb when they make a few mistakes or did not follow the golden rule book to the letter im not so sure...
It simply sounds like you are walking on eggs 24-7 and if you dare and break a egg you wil be shot down in the street like a rabid dog.

Point is we are all human and we are not perfect.
I think we should all ask our selfs if there is no better way and try to take it from there.

Sounds like a second undocumented ring was given out that no one was ever informed about then since the one that was mentioned in the letter had nothing to do with your PC. Yet another thing the other DMs and HDMs weren't informed about..

I think we should all ask our selfs if there is no better way and try to take it from there.

It's pretty easy to make demands or claim benevolence when you aren't the one who actually has to deal with the fallout of a DM's actions. This is just vague criticism with no actionable suggestion of how (or even why) things should be done differently.

If you truly have a desire to join the DM team then it's really on you as individual whether or not you will be successful. No one has to walk on egg shells and DMs are awarded plenty of agency in their stories and events. If you think that you can come in as a DM and do whatever you want without keeping your fellow DMs and the HDMs informed of what you're doing, then admittedly you won't last long. Working as a contributing part of the team in whole is paramount to being a successful DM on BGTSCC.

It's unfounded, dm staff has been given a lot of leeway since beta. Players generally have as well, myself included.
