To be honest dropping points into Open Lock is great XP too. You are looking at about 200-300 extra XP per dungeon with Open Lock skill.....not sure how this is any worse at making people want to open locks on their own and not bring a rogue along.........

Question is... Should the knock spell give 5xp per chest? :P

If this is to be considered, item type would be rolled on broken item spawn so you could at least see what kind of broken item you just found. And a broken full plate is still pretty heavy to drag back home to the smith.

I smell a Diablo-esq style of gambling with loot...

Of course, you had to BREAK the loot first, but still.

Bring it to the smithy, they repair it, and you receive a.....

A repaired item with no bonuses whatsoever compared to what you would have got in the chest had you not bashed it, plus a cookie.

Maybe tie this into Intelligence / Appraise / Craft skill so those low Strength character's have an advantage on seeing what the item that is broken was. RP wise it seems like it makes sense.

Guys your missing the point. It can be both fun and profitable at the same time, think about it you're going to either trash it by building a fire camp or just leave it on the ground for someone else to find, we hope it's the first one. True you may find a empty bottle but what if you get an epic item do you really want to miss out on that.
