I thought parry gives you a many riposte attacks as you had attacks anyways, but yea I'd prefer to use it for defense mainly.

It kind of did in NWN1, but in NWN2 we just got increased BAB progression in the Epics... Which brought us some extra attacks while the possible Riposte attacks remained at one per attack flurry.

Feels like duelist has a useless parry feat then;).

Shame I liked the idea of a nimble parrying spell caster.

Duelist has a custom change on this server that has not been exactly advertised, points in Parry Skill will increase your Deflection AC. Doesn't stack with items, so it is a way to free up one item slot for something else. (Ring, helmet, cloak.)

Eh .. the info is in the server changes, in the wiki and in the updates. What else can even be done to advertise it ? :P (and as a precision for potential conspiracy theorists this change was done months before I came back)

Some changes do pop up in the loading screens, for example how the Dervish class has been buffed up a bit.
Valefort wrote:(and as a precision for potential conspiracy theorists this change was done months before I came back)
And speaking of those... I do have you on record talking about ways to buff up the Duelist class years prior, when you were the up and coming QC member! You were discussing about how useless the parry skill actually is... What have you to say about that?

Oh wait, these discussions also implicate me! ABORT, ABORT!

lol, I can even say that I advocated for 4 deflection AC max for the feat :P

at what level does the duelist parry=deflection ac start?

From the custom changes thread:
This class can now cross-class the Perform Skill. The class now has access to the Lore: Local and History skills. Elaborate parry also grants +1 bonus to AC for every six ranks in the parry skill (maximum +5 Deflection at 30 base Parry skill points). This is a deflection bonus to AC, it doesn't stack with any other source of deflection AC.

This is actually interesting. Not quiet as cool as the original idea behind parry but still nice.

As noob I have to ask what is the max deflection AC on items?

Also how do attack flurries work exactly?

+4 so the +5 would be better than any item i have ever seen or heard of.

Correct, Duelist with 30 in parry gets 1 higher AC and saves an inventory slot on deflection.

Could you explain how attack flurries work? I edited to my last post but you already replied before I had added it ;).

Each 6 second round has 3 - 2 second flurries. Attacks are distributed equally with 'leftover' attacks going to the earlier flurries. So

1 attack will occur in the first flurry with 4 seconds of dead timing until next round
2 attacks will have 1 each in the first two flurries
3 attacks will have 1 in each flurry
4 attacks will have 2 attacks in the first flurry, 1 in the 2nd/3rd flurries
5 attacks will have 2 attacks in the 1st/2nd flurries, 1 in the 3rd.
and so on
so with 10 APR via PTWF you would have flurries of:
4/3/3
And at 13 APR it becomes:
5/4/4

Sneak attacks only occur in the first flurry out of HiPS, which is one of the ways flurries are important. Sneak attack characters don't want to miss out on the 10th APR since it reduces the number of sneak attacks they can land.

Also, it's important to note that attacks do not alternated main hand/off hand. All main hand attacks occur first than the offhand attacks. So with a PC that has 10 APR and an AB of 35, for example the flurries would look like this:
Flurry 1 - AB: 35/30/25/20
Flurry 2 - AB: 15/35/30
Flurry 3 - AB: 25/20/15

Make sense?

EDIT: You can see this yourself by reviewing your combat log after a combat long enough to last multiple rounds where you were only auto-attacking. You'll be able to see where your attacks occur within a given round.

Makes sense, I guess I have to read this and think about it more thoroughly I am not sure what APR is really. Attacks per round....) duh;)

My hope was that the highest AB would end up on the first attack of each flurry making parry less bad... Still hurting if you get hit by crits of the non-first hits but still a bit better if you got decent AC.

Hope I got across what I was thinking.

Still thinking a Bladesinger with Parry would be from an RP point of view just incredibly awesome, parrying attacks while making querky comments taunting the opponent all the while throwing his spells at him while occasionally riposting.... Just saying
