Re: BG Content Expansion (poll until Oct 7th)
I haven't tried the test module yet but I can say something out of principle.
I would be cautious and first ask the right questions. Does it make the game better and more fun to play with minimal annoyances across the board?
I'm not a strict "as per PnP/no houserulling" because the PnP system is neither perfect, and it's implementation in computer games is often even less than that as many things don't translate well enough.
Does the magic and spellbook changes give a better experience to casters while staying fair to others?
Does the ranged combat changes also apply to certain spells where it makes sense or is the cover only in effect for mundane ranged weapons?
This sort of questions is what I would personally focus on. I won't force my view of As per PnP is not that important as many of you are very strict about it and it is fine that you are. But for me... it's all about if it provides a better exeprience overall or not.
That's it for opinion. Ill test the module and after I have all info i need i will cast my votes.
Cheers

Huge proponent for the Blackguard and Assassin classes getting their own spellbooks, however lucklustre they might be. However, fiddling around with the module gave me the impression that this will only become possible through the magic replacement system.
Am I right in that assumption, or is it possible for these classes to receive their spellbooks separately ? I'm a bit on the fence about the whole magic replacement business and this might very well determine where my vote goes.

Schrödinger's Cyricism: NPCs simultaneously know everything and nothing about Cyric until observed by the Cyricist. Then they default to the state that disadvantages the Cyricist the most.

The magic replacement system has strong positives and negatives, for sure.
I am itching to get my diviner's hands on all those delicious new spells!
However I am aware of the difficulty of placing spells to hotbars in the new system.
Furthermore, as I stated already, when the new system is included a wizard (and sorcerer, bard) gets to repick their spells. For sorc/bard, its fine. They choose their new allotted magic from the list as they have always done. But a wizard gets some 40 new repicks (or, at least, that is as many as Aeili got when i tried the system). When my mage's spellbook has 239 spells in it, that means there are 200 i have to scribe out for myself prior to its implementation (in reality probably less, considering a good deal of common spells are available in stores).
As I said before, how will this expense be met? Some wizards won't have that much GP sitting around, let alone inventory space, to hoard a whole bunch of spells prior to the magic system implementation.

It does seem neat and all but i'd much rather have new areas and a proper crafting / enchanting system. As many stated before already i am also worried that there will be many bugs with this new system. I think if it gets implemented there should definetly be a backup that we can go back to should things not work out as intended.
I played on many PWs before and crafting was always something that created a lot of rp for the playerbase. You want that shiney new weapon? Well, find a weaponsmith and order one... etc. etc. I was a bit dissappointed that there is no crafting here...

You get a lot more in return. The ability to pick opposition schools manually, more than 150 new wizard spells, new metamagic kinds, an overhauled summoning system, no limit on the spells you can learn, and so forth.
That is correct. You can't multiclass stock spellcasters with the custom-spellbook-classes. The interface works with one system or the other, not both. For that reason its either use the stock system, or use the replacement magic system. Can't have both.Huge proponent for the Blackguard and Assassin classes getting their own spellbooks, however lucklustre they might be. Its easy to revert back to the original situation if it doesn't work to satisfaction.I would be cautious and first ask the right questions. Does it make the game better and more fun to play with minimal annoyances across the board?
Existing characters's spells are saved and you continue to pick them on level-up in case a revert will be done in the future. The stock game's spellcasting is disabled while the replacement magic system is active.

The votes are in. Poll is closed. Any word on when the content is going live? It looks like everything but the ranged weapon systems got a go.

Re: BG Content Expansion (poll until Oct 7th)
Hopefully it will not go live without at least 7-14 days' warning so all the wizards have time to scribe out the spells they want to add to their new spellbooks.
And more on that note, if there proves to be some huge bug with one or several of these improvements and the new magic system gets rolled back to what it was before, will said wizards get a refund of all the gold they lost scribing out their spells for the new system?

The new melee feats will be the first update. We'll see what comes after that when we get there. You can test the feats in the public QC module.

I tested the fighter feats and I am absolutely DROOLING at some of them. Can't wait to see them IG. I have two builds waiting on the few feats.
Thanks Rasael for your hard work. I have no idea how you scripted some of this stuff. Very impressive!
