Grand Duchess Jannath,
Grand Duke Eltan,
Grand Duke Belt and
Grand Duke Silvershield
Most Esteemed Grand Dukes and Duchess of Baldur’s Gate,
I write humbly on behalf of the Temple of Ilmater in Baldur's Gate, requesting permission to be allowed to engage mages friendly to the temple to ward it from teleportation.
Often, the Temple is called upon to provide treatment to the victims of the iniquitous. Often the iniquitous would add further suffering to the bodies and minds of our patients, or the loved ones who visit them. The clergy of Ilmater is a peaceful gathering, and although there are valiant protectors to be found both of the faith and allied to it, still the Temple represents an easy target. Protection from teleportation would allow the temple to be safe in the knowledge that the walls of the city and the vigilance of the Flaming Fist protected it, with magical attacks circumventing them made much more difficult.
With all respect, and written in the grace of Ilmater,
Brother Ameris Santraeger, Cleric of Ilmater, Radiant Heart

Re: Formal Letters to the Dukes of Baldurs Gate
A young man in very plain brown robes approaches the palace of the dukes in the rain with a massive half-orc in full battle garb bearing the symbol of the Order of the Radiant Heart. Entering within the man slowly and carefully pens a paper before giving it to a Fist to deliver to the proper authority.
To The Grand Duchess and Dukes of Baldurs Gate,
I ask humbly on behalf of myself, Squire Gastian of The Radiant Heart and Torm, that I might be granted a brief audience with you regarding the recent developments in Ulgoths Beard and lands further away. I feel only you may be able to help.
If you find it to your pleasing, I may be contacted at our chapterhouse outside of the city.

*A letter written on high quality parchment and sealed with a wax stamp bearing a rose is hand delivered to the Duchal Palace.*
/// PM sent~Most Esteemed Grand Dukes and Duchess of Baldur's Gate,
I, Cecilia of House Lafayette of Cormyr, scribe for you this letter most humbly and in doing so, bow my head with respect and reverence that I might petition you through missive under the bidding of the Just God Tyr and on behalf of the Order of the Radiant Heart.
My Lords and Ladies, I wish to bring to your attention that the trial regarding Mr. Kahanak Habdilof, a merchant accused over the death of the Dawnknight Eldarian Al'maire, continues to loom overhead without an official trial date.
A warrant issued by The Fist, saw Mr. Habdilof arrested and brought to the Fist Compound and in the process we were informed that the matter would then be passed to the most esteemed Duke's and Duchesses of the Gate. By Duke's Eltan's hand the man was released on bail until the trial date, but it is with a heavy heart I respectfully make you aware that multiple tendays have passed and the trial remains incomplete.
I wish to formally request that the trial of mage and merchant, Mr Kahanak Habilof, be brought forward and held within the tenday so that we may bring about conclusion to the matter, one way or another.
I humbly await your decision.
Respectfully and sincerely signed,
Cecilia Lafayette.
Paladin of the Even-Handed, Daughter of House Lafayette of Cormyr and Squire to Prelate Eliphas Valkarian of the Order of the Radiant Heart.

*Lady Elvina writes a reply to the Duke's missive. Sealed with the emblem of the Order of the Silver Rose.. a shield with two crossed swords and silver rose overlay. She then sends a copy of the Duke's Missive and her reply to their trusted allies to keep them informed as well.*
Most Honored Dukes and Duchess,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. We have read your missive in regards to diplomatic relations with the most vile Zhentarim of Darkhold. The letter filled with lies of confessions clearly made under duress. They freely admit their crimes of kidnapping, wrongful imprisonment and murder.
It is our council that this not be allowed to transpire as the Zhentarim are known for their infiltration, subterfuge and misdirection. Opening the door for evil to take a foot will place not only YOUR positions as leaders of this land in jeopardy, but all the goodly people of the land as a whole. To even consider actions such as this will not only place your graces in jeopardy with the Lord's Alliance, formed to battle the Zhentarim, of whom you are a part, the clergies vested within your lands, but also with your leadership and ruling of the people of this land as they will quickly lose faith, trust and fealty because of it.
It is by your laws those who worship and or follow the dark deities such as Bane, Myrkul, Bhaal, Shar or Cyric to name a few, are to be persecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If, we for some reason, decide to welcome the ignorance of laws, then how can we expect the worshippers of tyranny to do so either? ... Furthermore, the creeds onto which the holy orders, located in your lands, must heed to... They will have no choice but to take up arms against the sworn enemies of the patrons to which we revere.
Like the Lords Alliance, we too were formed to oppose forces of vile darkness such as the Zhentarim...
The Order of the Silver Rose, then the Servants of the Light, was founded and forged by Sir Baron Von Livingston so many years ago to defend the innocent people of the land against this very type of vile organization. Then once again Reformed and re-named, battle-worn and tempered in ages of both war and peace by High Cleric Barriltar Bhandraddon, right hand of Torm.
Our Mission:
"To defend the people of the lands against influence and agents of vile Darkness, and to ensure peace and permanence for triumph of The Greater Good."
Our sworn oath:
"Do you swear fealty to the innocent people of the lands, in defense of the realm; to protect them with both honour and due diligence; to usurp upon injustice wherever it might darken and sully the fair land; and to uphold the laws of the fair land wherever possible?"
"Do you swear allegiance to the Order of The Silver Rose; to defend it's standard against usurpation and desecration; to uphold the Code of Honour the Order reveres; to support and stand up for your brothers and sisters in arms and to be worthy of their faith; until your last breath, while your body and your spirit are united?"
"Then as we stand here on this hallowed ground, let the glory of the Triad and your brothers and sisters in arms present here today act as witness; that hence from this day forth, you shall be known as a defender of Justice, Righteousness and Virtue; that from this day forth you shall be known as a Knight of The Silver Rose. Bear these blows and no others, in remembrance of oaths given and received, in remembrance that body is dust and only spirit is eternal, in remembrance to be a good Knight."
While we understand the need for open diplomatic channels with most organizations and entities, allowing the Zhentarim to have immunity while in your lands in inconceivable and unacceptable to us, and other members of the Lord's Alliance we have spoken with. The kidnapping, torture and killing of two members of the Order of the Radiant Heart shows their true nature. Had they honestly wanted diplomatic relations and an ambassador to your fair city, they would have turned over the captives to your esteemed justice and not summarily had them executed. We do not open the gates to the city to bandits, infiltrators and murderers and allowing the Zhentarim to come in would be tantamount to doing the same.
We cannot condone or accept their offer is sincere or on the level, and will do all within our ability to bring them to Justice.
Their actions have spoken far louder than their words ever could.
Sincerely,
Lady Elvina Aira-S'efarro

*DMogorgon wrote:*A courier arrives from the palace bearing a missive. He remarks he bears a copy of the formal request for diplomatic relations between the Baldur's Gate and and the Zhentarim of Darkhold.
The letter bares the Duke's request for council regarding the prospect of such developments, and potentially a volunteer from the Order of the Silver Rose to serve as the Duke's representative to Darkhold with full diplomatic immunity. The Duke's express the view that although the threats from Darkhold are not to be underestimated, there may be wisdom and prudence in opening a channel for communication.*
Esteemed Dukes of Baldur's Gate,
I, Greldinard, Lord Castellan of Darkhold relay this long overdue message to you in hopes of establishing formal diplomatic relations between our realms, so that we may foster a common understanding and a long prosperous cooperation between Darkhold and Baldur's Gate.
News has probably reached you by now that two of your own citizens were imprisoned, put to trial, and ultimately executed for various offenses against the legitimate rulers of Darkhold. Ameris Santraeger has plead guilty to the charge of an attempted murder of Zhentarim officers, spying on the organization on behalf of the Harpers, and undermining the order of Darkhold. Cecilia Lafayette has plead guilty to the charges of attempting to implicate both the city of Baldur's Gate and her home nation of Cormyr in hostilities, and eventually war, against Darkhold and it's inhabitants. Her confession is attached to this letter.
We are aware these were no more than actions of a meddling anarchist and a delusional girl. However, they are members of the Balduran chapter of the Order of the Radiant Heart, an order which your city sponsors directly. If not for our actions, it would have been easy for them to eventually succeed in their scheme.
It is my belief that such misunderstandings can be eliminated by the installation of ambassadors in our respective courts, preventing future grievances against Baldur's Gate and Darkhold alike.

*Lady Elvina writes a sealed reply once again distributing it, and the return missive, to their allies Sir Arkain of the Radiant Heart, Doron Amar council, Tyn Augsamman of the Elder Circle and Khrak Helzak, Teo of Candle Keep and Mendel of En Dharasha Everae.*
Most Honored Dukes and Duchess,
I do indeed understand how the false words from the most vile organization the Zhentarim may seem to come across as a benefit, but I assure you will not know of their true intentions until after it is too late to do anything about it.
As we have already stated, to allow such a thing to happen goes against all the Lords Alliance, of which you are a part, stands for. Ourselves and the Radiant Heart have agreed Not to support nor condone such an ambassadorship or any type of diplomatic relations with Darkhold or the Zhentarim. To do so goes against everything we and the goodly people of land believe in and that our Order stands for. In doing so you will surely lose the confidence of the people whom you lead and risk relations with your allies not only here but afar such as Waterdeep, Silvery Moon and the survivors of Triel to name a few. As well as Trade relations up and down the sword coast.
In conclusion Darkhold and the Zhentarim will be held accountable for their crimes regardless of how many false promises or false sense of security they attempt to deceive you with. We WILL bring them to justice.

Loyal and esteemed Knights of the Silver Rose,
I assure you the Duke's share your concerns and mistrust of the Zhentarim and their vile beliefs. Allowing the Zhentarim an emissary would not be a capitulation to their vile interests. However, it could provide a channel for dialogue should another crisis flair.
This is among the reasons that we wished to consider one of your illustrious order as our representative to Darkhold, who would hold all honors and immunities of an emissary and be able to speak for the Duke's to the Zhentarim.
Furthermore, it is the Zhentarim who have reached out for this possibility. Perhaps we can leverage their desires for diplomacy to our advantage as well?
Sincerely

A short letter is delivered to the Duchal Palace by one of the Thayan Knights on retainer at the Baldur's Gate Enclave.
Grand Duchess Jannath,
Grand Duke Eltan,
Grand Duke Belt and
Grand Duke Silvershield
Most Esteemed Grand Dukes and Duchess of Baldur’s Gate,
I write to you today both in the spirit of friendship, and in the interest of preserving the peace and order of your realm. Today, a woman going by the name of Alison put up signs in front of the Friendly Arm Inn reading: "Protest the Dukes of Baldur's Gate" and "No Treaties with Evil". She further told all who would listen that your esteemed persons are currently engaged in secret trade negotiations with the Zhentarim organization, and are responsible for many un-defined acts of evil. I need hardly tell you that many people of different national loyalties frequent the Friendly Arm Inn, and that in addition to committing serious acts of blasphemy and slander against your offices, if what she says is true she is also likely guilty of selling state secrets to other nations or organizations.
If you believe this traitor is worthy of your concern, she can quite easily be found, as she wears bright orange tunics and a distinctive checkered mask across her eyes. The tiefling Elaria and the air genasi known as Alleyene may also have information relating to Alison and her sources for these claims.
In the spirit of international cooperation,
Magus Altyani of House Tethliira

Re: Formal Letters to the Dukes of Baldurs Gate
Lucy would spend time carefully writing a letter before sending it to the palace.
"Esteemed Dukes,
It is with the utmost humility and respect that I write you this day in hopes that you might consider my request. My name is Lucy Heartfilia and I am a priestess. I pay homage to the Red Knight, the Lady of Strategy. I worship often at the Temple of Tempus in your city, and visit Her shrine there on a regular basis. The Lady has seen fit to reveal herself to me, answering my prayers in earnest by appearing Herself and speaking to me at that shrine. Several adventurers witnessed this, as well as the High Priest.
I have taken this as a sign that the Lady is growing in power and following, and the grace of Her presence has inspired me to build a temple in Her name. I wish to build a public place where any might come and learn her teachings and study the art of strategy, and I seek a grant to build this temple within Baldur's Gate.
I have the funding, and have located the help I need to construct the building itself. All I need, at this point, is a place to lay the foundation. I am sure that the benefits that this church can provide to the city are obvious. I envision it as a place where any might come and learn the elegance of strategy. Newly promoted officers in the Flaming Fist Company might learn much from the coming to the church to speak with the faithful as well as study the writings the temple will house. There might even be a following, albeit small, within the Company's ranks already.
I am willing to offer the city a suitable donation for the land, should it be granted to me, and expect no official position or authority within the temple once it is finished. I will pay to build and maintain the building, as well as any stipend you might ask of the church beyond that. There is no better way I could express my devotion to Her than completing this task.
It is with great hope that I send this to you now. Should you refuse, I will seek locations outside your borders to continue this endeavor, albeit with a heavy heart. If you should find the time in your busy schedules to reply to this letter, be your response favorable or not, please send it to me here at the Temple of Tempus. I thank you in advance for at least taking the request into consideration.

A thin brow arched under a grey hood as the missive was read. The faintest hint of a female's chuckle could be heard beneath that hood as the figure walked away..clearly amused by what she'd read.

I write to you in behalf of the Church of Myrkul, to implore you to rescind the laws outlawing the faith of the Lord of the dead. I ask that if you are inclined to rethink your previous valid decision, that you do so rationaly and logically and not listen to unsubstantiated rumours.
I realise that my faith and my church may not seem popular, and we are not numerous. But our services are needed in most cities on Faerun, as is proven by the fact no other city outlaws the Reaper.
Our church tends to the dying, easing their passing into his embrace. We perform funerals, and perform last rites. We draw declarations and last wills and testaments of the dead. And we keep cemetaries and graveyards for cities we dwell in. Aswell as the Church is highly effective in conducting ceramonies to force down any undead risings.
These are some benefits the Church of Myrkul can benefit the city of Baldur's Gate and it's land.
There is also the fact that with Lord Myrkul no longer outlawed, the church can appease him on your behalf. We can work on quelling the wrath that causes the dead to rise from your very own graveyard and those that rise even now beneath your city.
I give no guarentee the effect would be instanteneous as the way of the gods can be mysterious. But you do gain nothing by continuing the outlawment of the Lord of the Dead, and if you do reconsider your previous decision, you may have something to gain.
I thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I hope you look upon my plea objectivly.
If you have any question, for I am unable to come to your city because of my faith, I may be reached in the Friendly Arm's inn.
Thank you for your consideration.

I, Wilhelm from House of Lionsoul, send you this letter to inform you about the upcoming threat from the lands of Amn, more specifically from the place, called "Xvart's Village", nearby city of Beregost.
Me and my followers were heading path trought the "Xvart's Village" and were attacked by organised group of xvarts. They used more complicated formation for their army, which, considering their immense numbers, seems very dangerous.
Also we met unusually big specimen, and he were able to speak on common language almost as we do. He used this ability to command by pack of goblins. Seems like they found way to become an allies.
I warn you about this, because organised army of xvarts and goblins can easily get round such little city as Beregost by sneaking, and intrude in our lands.
I've done all what i could over there, and eleminated all possible threat for now, but i feel, like i must warn you about this. This event took life from one of my followers, and i do not want to see others sharing his fate.
Since house of Lionsoul is an applicant for becoming a noble one, me and my people will do everything to defend lands under authority of Dukes.
Thank you for your attention.
Wilhelm from house of Lionsoul."

Re: Formal Letters to the Dukes of Baldurs Gate
An Open Letter to the Grand Dukes and Nobility of Baldur's Gate
There is a lot to be said for keeping to tradition. Without keeping to the order of things, what do we have left? A thousand different people each with his or her own idea of justice, every person trying to force their idea to the next. We all know what happens when the order of the world is broken. We all know what happened in Tethyr.
I am a mere merchant and trader, and though my business has managed to flourish here in Baldur's Gate, I do not forget my roots. I am aware of whom I serve. It is my hope that not only could I help the city proper, I could also help your lands and houses succeed with Waukeen's guiding hand. I wish to volunteer my time, my company and my money to improve and revitalize critical areas in our economy, and I can best do that with the blessing and permission of the Baldurian Bank. Allow me to be your instrument of financial change, and I promise you, we will all reap the gains.
Order and stability are both precious and fragile things. We are riddled with problems, and once the small things have washed away, the large ones are too powerful to stop. Every person has their place. Those who are meant to lead, lead. Those who are meant to follow, follow. This is how civilization doesn't fall to anarchy, and this is how it should be. I am your servant, and through me, we can be the new Jewel of the Sword Coast. Athkatla, Calimshan, Waterdeep. These are names our children will learn as romantic histories . . . beautiful, but no longer relevant. Our legacies will burn that much brighter.

My ship plowed through the storm.
Looking into the waves, I grew dizzy,
for I glimpsed the chasm between myself & the infinite.
Yacht life.
