"Father, we have to take action soon, some villagers have recently reported sighting of undead creatures in the Silver Marches close to Quaervarr."

"Undeads" nodded Kastan, "once again we have to face the putrid menace. Helmut, Hemdak we need to take
a closer look. Go to the village, speak to the people and gather any useful information, explore the surrounding area
but beware, do not venture too deep, avoid to engage, we need to have a clear idea of what we are going to
face first. May The light of the Morninglord guide your steps."
"As you command, father".

Kastan had nothing more precious than his two sons, his wife died of labor when Hemdak was born.
The two young men grew strong and virtuous following the path of Lathander on the footprints of Kastan.
But what was meant to be an easy task turned to be a deadly trap.
When Helmut and Hemdak arrived, one of the village was literally under siege, dozens and dozens of undead creatures
had almost overran the helpless villagers who were fighting for their life.

The two brave men couldn't stand such a sight, without reporting back they decided to charge to repel the attack.
Their rightful might stopped the assault for a couple of hours wave after wave, but eventually, as a terrorized villager later reported,
first the youngest Hemdak, then Helmut were overcame by an intricate web of grasping undeads' arms.
Their bodies were never found.

As the terrible news reached Kastan a fiendish malevolence enveloped his soul.
"So, this is my payback ! I served you, the Morninglord all my life, I've consecrated to you myself and my two sons ! I fought
your enemies, your battles everywhere only to get this reward ! I spit on you ! on your lies on your name !"

Furious like a wounded beast Kastan bashed into the local temple of Lathander and set it on fire, the entire building was destroyed,
then, with his soul devoured by wrath, Kastan decided to put a hand to his unbearable pain. He grabbed a dagger with both his hands and after
a last thought to his sons with his eyes full of tears he pushed the short blade deep inside his own throat.

But for a god who doesn't listen anymore there's another one silently watching in delight: Bane.

"You really want the curtain to fall ?" the malevolent deity prompted.

"Yes, my life has no sense, not anymore"

"Because of the loss of your sons ? Their bodies were never found, think about it Kastan..."

The creeping vermin of doubt instantly penetrated his mind. Maybe they were still alive ? Or, could it be possible ?
turned into undeads ? Was it just a lie ?

"I can bring you back to your world, with the gift of undeath.... at a price. I don't have to ask you to fight the Morninglord
and all his acolytes, I know you'll do that anyhow, but every single day at midnight you'll revive the sorrow
of your loss and the very last moment of your life"

A hope, even in such a creepy way was given to him at a terrible price, Kastan accepted to become what he always had fought.
