Rodor Bendt, Ship-bred

Unread post by Captain Lammo »

"I'm no pirate, fellow."
"Praise be your health, then, and my sword's stay."

Rodor Bendt was born the son of a free merchant, Captain Ezekiel Bendt. The man was a traveler of the seas and as such, sailed and traded all along the major ports that would take his claim, though he often found most his trade in Baldur's Gate. And a wife, in his early years.

That is where Rodor's story began.

He was born in his father's cabin, the ship's physician praising the babe's fluid birth. "He doesn't just have his sea legs, this boy. He was born to the churn of the waves." It was more than just a statement. If you were to have asked any shipmate in the captain's service, you would hear tail of Rodor's first steps coming only after he first climbed the ropes of the sails. The term 'ship-bred' stuck to the boy in his formative years, as he learned the trade of his father.

Over time, however, it became apparent that becoming a merchant was not the trade for the young Rodor, who found himself gazing over ports into cities from the nest, close yet worlds away from his own, secluded home upon the water.

It is unclear how, but when he came of age Rodor stole away from his father's ship and vowed to find his lot in life. With a curious eye and a strange manner of speech, he set out on his path to adventure, from the harbor of Baldur's Gate.
