Eventually one of the other "toys" got jealous of her being the "favorite" and set Beatrix up to get imprisoned and killed. Beatrix Escaped the trap and the order of assassins and fled to the sword coast, taking odd jobs as a freelance assassin to get her there. once she arrived in the Sword Coast she ended up being part of a party to rescue a young girl from the Beatri and their "God" whom she helped to kill. the Child was adopted by the evil assassin who saw a lot of herself in the orphan and the child slowly changed the assassin to be good. Name on marriage certificate: Beatrix Rokranon
Alias's: Beatrix the Bloody, B, Twin Bow B, Hawkins.
Assassin name: The Hawk

Hair style: Mostly kept tidy under a Bandanna that she always sprouts off the merits of wearing, when not wearing a bandanna she tends to have one braid hanging in front of each ear and the rest of her hair hanging naturally behind her head

Clothing: often wears charcoal colored clothing (including her bandanna) light and flexible though it hugs her body more often than not.... her gloves always have the fingers cut off so she can feel the bowstring in her hand. Her Charcoal cloak is fastened together with a brooch with the shape of a silver arrow with green fetching the symbol of Solonor Thelandira. Always has two longbows strapped to her back and two short swords sheathed at her hips.

Physical features: Her eyes are slanted slightly upward and she only smiles when around her daughter or near Renec. Her cold eyes are her most notable feature besides her obviously elven ears and her smile. The eyes look out at the world like everything can be calculated.
------------------------------
Her first memory was one of pain. A sword jabbed into her stomach tearing her skin and insides apart, with a hideous black face grinning viciously behind it. A face more akin to a demon or devil, in the child's eyes, than a drow that shared similar ancestry to her own race. the memory is only a few seconds long, but those few seconds seemed like an eternity. Each detail of the scene etched in the girls brain so completely that she doubted she'd ever forget. several Bodies lay around her, and one lay on top of her pinning her down. She knew these people were family and friends but that's all she remembers, no names came to her, but she knew this was everyone she knew in life. The body that had pinned her down holding her there for this demon to sink his claws into was her own mother, who had died trying to defend the terrified girl.

It was that memory that haunted her dreams while she was unconscious. When she woke up in bandages in the Rangers hut she, save for an elderly elf watching her from the far side of the room. She had had everything taken from her by the drow... her family, her memories, her friends. the only thing she had to her now was her hatred for drow and a name given to her by the humans that had saved her and left... Beatrix.
------------------------------
Revenge motivated her, she was going to kill drow till she was dead. She knew that was the path she had chosen and there was nothing left in this world for her save that. She trained under the rangers of that forest learning the secrets of archery from them as well as a few other secrets about life. The rangers of the Black Archer mistrusted her and her intentions for the talents she was learning to use, in fact the only person who showed her any trust was her caretaker, whom she came to enjoy spending time with and learning from.
------------------------------
The Skirmish was over the Rangers were victorious and Beatrix had proven her skill in the hunt well that day, but it was still a day of mourning and another scar on the heart of the young elven woman. while the drow had all been killed, so had her mentor, the only one who had cared for her since her family had been taken from her by drow now was also dead by drow hands.
------------------------------
Beatrix lay in the empty hut that had been her mentors. her shoulder wrapped in bandages from an injury incurred on a recent drow raid that had sneaked up upon the rangers. She needed more skills her thirst for revenge demanded a higher competency at the destruction of life. She new all the elven secrets of archery but she needed something more to unlock the full power of the bow. She needed to be trained in arcane magics.... and needed the ability to vanish from sight no matter where she was.
-------------------------------
The training was intense. There was no failure, only death. If you didn't succeed you died, it was as simple as that. She was scared for a while fearful for her life, but she was in too deep and there was only one way forward these skills would help her in her quest to kill drow. She had been approached by a man who seemed to have all the answers to her problems and she followed him blindly propelled by her need for power. Now she was either going to become powerful or die, her body trembled with fear. It was at this moment she immersed herself completely in her hatred and thirst for revenge. up till now a part of her had been holding back but now that she had no options she sunk to the deepest depths.
--------------------------------
Blood, that's what it was she was covered in. The sticky red life-force of others yet she treated it like a light spring rain. Bodies covered the floor around her with arrows protruding from their necks, rivers of red seeping out of their bodies, yet her green eyes viewed them as one would view a park bench or a stone on the side of the road. She knew at this instant something was off, there were too many guards for an unsuspecting mark, it was time to pull out. She had already been heading towards her escape route before the last body had hit the floor. to her dismay she heard noises from the direction of her escape, and guards stormed into the room seeing her covered in the blood of their master. she quickly ran to the window and dived out of it, diving into the river by the side of the estate.
---------------------------------
She had been set up, it was the only explanation. There were wanted posters with her likeness painted on them, as well as her name. The only way for them to know her name is if someone talked. it wasn't safe for her anymore, she had to leave the lands she could strike off on her own as an assassin for hire. Little did she know that where she went the name on those posters would eventually follow, the assassin ring was powerful and many people wanted to be the one to take down "Beatrix the Bloody".
---------------------------------
Doron Amar, she had been invited to become a citizen and was sorely tempted to do so. She heard they had some people who could further her desire to hunt drow. it would be odd to become part of a community again and possibly only a matter of time before the truth of her past was discovered and she was hunted yet again, but Beatrix thought it worth the risk.
----------------------------------
It was unexpected, but there it was. Beatrix found herself in a position that never occurred to her. She was carrying a dirty child up and out of the cloakwood mines. This child had been going to be a sacrifice to a massive creature in the mines the child's mother had asked the group of adventurers that Beatrix had integrated herself into to save her child. the mother had died but the adventurers persisted despite Beatrix's comments on the fate of the child already being decided. when the had found the child alive against all odds Beatrix was amazed, and a spark of something she hadn't felt in a long while startled her into action. This child was Beatrix, lost and without family angry at a world that took everything from her. She recalled the kindness of her caretaker and began to soften. For once in her life she had something that needed her protection, and this need to protect this little child rivaled her need for revenge.

Pride and dismay are what she felt when Shiera, the child she had found in the Cloakwood Mines now her adoptive daughter , had tracked Beatrix down using her own skills and a stolen amulate to ward off undead. This lone preteen girl had managed to make her way through prey dangerous enough for seasoned fighters in groups just to find her adoptive mother. Her skills with the bow would be amazing when she grew into her prime. Beatrix couldn't help but feel proud of the child who had learned skills quickly from the lessons Beatrix gave her. However this pride was offset by dismay, this child had tracked her down to the Trolls, sneaking away from those taking care of her day to day while Beatrix was out on hunts. It was only a matter of time before the child sneaked into the wrong situation and wound up dead.
------------------------------
Beatrix knew her life had changed once she found the child. Shiera had filled a spot that Beatrix thought she'd tossed away in her pursuit of power to kill. This small child who wanted to be so much like her adopted mother had altered what Beatrix viewed as most important. So far Beatrix's life had been all about the Night Hunt, searching for and killing drow. Now Beatrix finds herself giving up the thing that has driven her so far for the sake of keeping this child, which she knows she'll outlive anyway, safe.

They found her, She didn't know how, but they found her. It was no longer safe, that much was clear, but Beatrix found herself in a new situation. To simply disappear was no longer an option, there were people who relied on her and she found she could not let them down. Worse than the fear of death however was the fear of what Shiera would think of Beatrix once she learned the truth of the woman's past. Beatrix knew now that it was a matter of when... not if.
------------------------------
A glimmer of hope, a ray of light in the Darkness of her life. Circumstances propelling Beatrix further down the path that this world had chosen for her. Without a god, and alone in the pitch black of Evil Beatrix forced herself forward with new purpose towards the beckoning light. Word was spreading of her past, and she felt she had little time left to do so much that needed doing before things really got bad.

It was a leap of faith that brought her to this point, there was great risk in the moves she was making revealing her past and such to such a notable individual. She had been informed that it was her best course however and she put her faith in the person who suggested it. If this course of action failed...... she couldn't even bring herself to think of the consequences.

She'd done what she could, now all she could do was wait and see what happened. She had followed the advice she was given by the the nurse in Candlekeep, and even had managed to get a message to the nurse stating such. Now all she could do was sit and wait for the end of this long calm before the storm she knew must come.
------------------------------
She had taken up a new hunt, instead of the path of revenge and the night hunt of drow she now felt a pull towards the path of the Keen-eye. The more she heard about Solonor Thelandira the more she saw the similarities between the person she now wanted to be and this deity, it did not take long at all for her feel that this was where her faith belonged.

Bounty hunters, just what she needed. She knew they'd come and luckily she had managed to be with people willing to defend her at the time. The Bounty Hunters had come to claim the reward on her head for the death of Aurther Cornwall Magister of Cormyr, and they said their contact in Baldurs Gate was a paladin by the name of Sir Lazarous. If she went with them they would pack her up and ship her off to Cormyr for trial, and she couldn't afford that. But when they mentioned having a plan based off of the fact that one of her friends let slip the fact she had a daughter, she became enraged and scared nearly killing them on the spot, or turning herself over, her emotions swaying her judgment from extremes like never before. Luckily for her before she could do either, one of her friends stepped up and before she knew it both Bounty hunters lay dead...Her friend however was taking her to find out who this Lazerous was... and likely to later face trial for her past.

A fear like no other gripped Beatrix's heart. There is a certain terror in seeing ones child surrounded by trolls and the child calling taunts to the trolls. Beatrix didn't even know how many trolls there were, which was extremely uncharacteristic of her, to the sharp eyes of the elven woman it was just her lone daughter in a sea of green trolls. Fear and panic overcame her and she did something she would never have done before she had met her daughter. With only the thought of pulling the trolls away from the one thing in her life that she finally had found worth living for she knocked an arrow in her bow, and darkness overtook her. She had no memory of fighting but she came too with her daughter crying over her begging for her not to be dead, Beatrix despite how badly her body had been beaten however could only feel one thing during the groggy awakening she had, relief that Shiera had survived.
-----------------------------
Beatrix who was used to trying to ignore all her feelings about things found she could not when it came to Shiera. Pride, fear, anger, and sorrow all buffeted her relentlessly on the journey back to Baldurs Gate, and Beatrix was unused to all these feelings. Beatrix felt at a loss, her daughter had learned much from Beatrix... more than Beatrix wanted to teach. Beatrix suddenly felt like she was corrupting the one thing that she had to live for, twisting it into something dark. Too many emotions that she couldn't ignore were driving her mad.... making her confused. To push away from her daughter would destroy both herself and her daughter, but if she kept close to her daughter she might very well drag the no longer so innocent child further down into the depths from which Beatrix sought to escape.

Shiera and Beatrix were settled in the temple, which was a mixed blessing for Beatrix. She was unused to staying in a stone building for days on end but she was spending more time with her daughter which in and of itself was a mixed blessing. She loved her daughter dearly, Shiera was the one thing Beatrix had found in her life that touched Beatrix so profoundly, but Shiera was slowly becoming what Beatrix was. Beatrix could see it plainly despite having made efforts to keep Shiera from the darker side of life.

Stone walls were not the surroundings Beatrix preferred, they felt imposing and confining. Nor was there much to do in the Temple, she enjoyed spending time with her daughter but humans needed much more sleep than elves spent meditating. Beatrix found herself thinking back on how her life had gone so far during the four hours a day that Shiera slept soundly when Beatrix stayed awake.

Rhys, a friend of hers, had asked her to describe herself without using mention of her skills at killing. She had at the time found herself unable to do so, her entire life before coming to Baldurs Gate was one of death and her skills at killing others and evading capture.

Her life was a hard life, her earliest memories ones of death and destruction of her family and friends. After that she only had the life with the rangers of the Black archer teaching her to feed her desire for revenge and hatred for the Drow to use any method to kill them and make them suffer as well as training in the art of archery. After that her memories were of training to become an assassin then the actual assassination she performed. There was really little else to Beatrix but Hate, a need for revenge, the skills she acquired to make revenge easier, and the countless people on the surface that died by her hand. These memories were the core of what Beatrix was, and Beatrix now actually found herself hating herself for doing such things. In truth she didn't care what happened to herself any more, only that Shiera not suffer. Beatrix realized that in her search for the power to destroy those that had destroyed her life had become the thing she hated most, a destroyer of lives. Those she'd assassinated had family and friends who suffered due to Beatrix, and now Beatrix felt she had already destroyed Shiera and her own life before it had even truly begun. Perhaps seeking a second chance was too much to ask from the world, but for the sake of Shiera she had to try. Yet Beatrix knew that life would not be easy, she had made too many enemies, Cormyr only one of them. She had left bodies in many kingdoms, and on top of that someone in the assassin guild she worked in had betrayed her leaving her to be captured. She was a loose end now to the assassins guild and now that Cormyr found her it was only a matter of time before the assassins would decide to clean up their mess. The Retirement package of an assassin really wasn't that great.

Oddly enough in her depressing pensive thoughts she came to an answer to the question that had started this downward spiral of self hate. The answer was simple and encouraging to her. Beatrix was a mother who would do anything for the sake of her child even face her own deadly past head on.

Siomir came to see her and had a small chat with her during one of the times she was awake after her daughter had drifted to sleep. She felt her heart lighten a bit when he told her that the people of Doron Amar, and he himself stood behind her. She was not facing this all alone there were people helping her and she always had more than one choice. Penance for her past would happen one way or another... but Beatrix had always known that. There are many options and in everything there is a path forward. When Siomir left, Beatrix sat and reflected on all the people she had surrounded herself with who were actually doing what they could on her behalf, despite knowing what she was and what her past had been. Saint Merielle, Jonas, and Siomer all were trying to help her and her daughter in their own ways, and she had much to thank them for.

It was good to get out of the sanctuary for a little bit. And Beatrix had promised to try to make it to the wedding. Aside from that.... Shiera proved once again to be mature for her age wanting to go see Nana who was undoubtedly going to be cross with the child, just to make sure the nurse knew she was alright. Beatrix's heart softened again as she spoke to the child about what had happened and felt she was getting through to the child.
The two made their way to Candlekeep where the wedding was being held, and attended the party for a while, both keeping rather apart from the party as Beatrix felt a bit uncomfortable.... and the two talked about little things, taking time to congratulate the married couple then quietly leaving to go see Nana.

It was perhaps the most frightening moments of her life so far..... it lasted nearly 2-3 minutes but seemed like an eternity to her. She had just told her daughter the truth about her past, and could see the disbelief flashing across Shiera's face. Beatrix was sure that Shiera would hate her and no longer want to be with her. This was the moment that Beatrix knew everything hung on. As the moment drew to a close relief flooded Beatrix as her daughter walked up to her and stated she still wanted to be her daughter. The wild child looked to those gathered and pleaded with them to defend Beatrix and not let anyone take her from Shiera... Beatrix felt strong... like she could face anything now as long as she had Shiera.
-----------------------
Which happened to be lucky because the next thing on the agenda seemed to be a dinner with the paladin Sir Lazarus Byzantine of Cormyr and his wife, the man responsible for sending the bounty hunters after Beatrix to begin with. It was a bit of a nervous encounter... as Beatrix usually didn't wear dresses... but Beatrix felt it oddly satisfying to watch the faces of the Paladin and his wife, whom Beatrix was at first sitting next to, when Sir Jonas introduced her as Beatrix. A lovely meal was enjoyed after this and Shiera did not cause much fuss... even when discussion of what was to happen to Beatrix didn't go exactly as either side hoped. Nothing was solved however and the dinner and meeting was adjourned so that people could rest and come back to the discussion with level heads.

Beatrix sat in front of a pile of blank papers, one of them away from the others not so blank having the words "To the relatives of" written at the top. her quill was in the ink jar again and she looked at the paper. It wasn't that she didn't want to write the letters to those who had suffered due to her actions, in truth it was something she had been considering for some time since she had been staying at the Sanctuary of Ilmatar. It wasn't that she didn't want to offer apologies to those she'd wronged, but part of her sat there and thought "Apologizing to them now would be a selfish act, sure it might make me feel better if they said they forgave them... but they still would live with the loss of the loved one if they say they forgive me or not. Meanwhile I'm dredging up the painful memories of their loss. Do i truly have the right to ask for forgiveness from these people? it may give them some sense of closure... but it may not....." with these thoughts she continued the letter adding in the first name of a victim that came to mind, followed by:

"I sit here writing this feeling i have little right to ask for forgiveness but i feel i should still offer you the possibility of closure in the matter. I was the assassin responsible for the murder of your loved one, a profession i have since given up and have put myself in the care of paladins clerics and people who will make sure i do penance for my transgressions. I write this expecting the recipients of this letter and the letters I'm writing to the families of others like you to hate me still even after reading the letters. I will leave if you wish to forgive me or not up to you, I for one at the moment of writing this letter have not forgiven myself yet, and look upon the suffering i caused you with horror now. Its possible you will not believe these words to be sincere and i do not blame you if you have trouble believing them but i felt you should know that the person responsible for your pain will be paying for her transgressions against you and others like you. Sincerely Beatrix"

With the first letter done she sighs and picks up the next to start on it. The letters becoming steadily easier to write as she continues, she wracks her brain for the names of those she's killed, many of them are just faces in her mind with no names but she dredges through the task, memories of the murders running through her head as she writes. As she finishes the letters she is exhausted, mentally and physically, the task was emotionally strenuous despite her trained emotionless appearance as well as taking quite a while to get the letters written.

f you've ever seen a plant deprived of sunlight, if you've ever seen it robbed of water, this is how you'd describe Beatrix now. Shiera was gone, and the effect was evident in the female elfs being. Pale and clammy tense as a board and her face wrought with worry fear near-hopelessness, a very disturbing sight for those that know the normally emotionless elf. That morning there had been a note for Shiera that had been left on the floor that had nearly stopped the heart in Beatrix's chest. This black envelope was so familiar.... the writing inside was in a hand she knew.... the seal of wax on the envelope chilled her to the bone... She silently screamed at herself that it couldn't be.... that she was imagining things..... she read the note, talking about an archery tournament and how shiera had been invited to attend.... Shiera would have not passed up an opportunity to show her skills..... but Beatrix knew the smell coming from the paper....... she quickly held the page up between her and a torch and her heart cried in anguish and pain as the hidden message of assassins was revealed. "I FOUND YOU! - Crow" Memories of her old Assassin Master assaulted her, how he beat her, abused her physically and emotionally till he had made her stronger, deadlier..... soulless. How he used her for many things... not just murders. He saw her as a pet...... a toy to amuse him. He was cunning with a murderous temperament and highly abusive.

And now he had the one thing that Beatrix cared about above everything else. Her master wanted her back... and had the one thing that might let him have his way.

"Empty yourself. caring about something just leads to pain." These words stung and reminded Beatrix of what she once was. There was truth in the words, Beatrix couldn't argue with it. One cannot take away from someone who has nothing. The man was a mystery as well he knew her name, he knew she was an assassin, he knew she was trying to become a better person and he felt that her attempt at redemption was something that doesn't fit in his ideas of what the world should be like, yet she had no name for him and his face was hidden from her. Could this man be a lackey or accomplice of Crow? sent to shake her resolve? Could he be a new threat to Beatrix's attempt at a new life? Could he actually just be curious about her actions and seek the same thing as her? Questions about this man bombarded Beatrix's already bothered mind.

"What are you thoughts if i may pry.... i am quite curious" the man said, he had once again found her in a moment of grief when she was most vulnerable.... it was as if he knew what she was feeling and when to strike.

"My thoughts are .... when empty its very hard to be hurt, because I'm already in pain.. when i care about something... even the pain of loosing them could be preferable to walking this world forever alone." Beatrix said after a bit of a pause.

The man sat there with the response "hmm, most interesting... i never would thought an assassin of all people would forsake such comfort for such a precarious position.... bear in mind that it can work both ways... by caring about someone they not only become a liability to you but so much more do you not see the situation you have orchestrated? If you truly cared about that child, you would have distanced yourself from her, given her to an adopted family with a stipend and promptly disappeared...yet you took her with you, when you were captured she became a sympathetic reason for the paladin order not to execute you, you in turn by acknowledging their sentiments turned your loved one into a target...... do you not see how you gave them such an easy option to get to you?" the man pauses for a slight bit before continuing "Crow Truly is a cruel man, being a practical one, if i were in his position, i would have simply killed your daughter... not because i enjoy such a task but because you turned her from a budding youth into an ideology symbolizing redemption.... Instead, i presume he will either train her if she has talent to replace the one he lost... or simply send pieces of her as you wait here going mad with grief... do you not see the cage you built for yourself? Because you feel guilt over lives killed? think of it this way....you as a person killed those people... however even if you did not, the necessity for their demise would still exist...to put it in Illmaters perspective... by being the one doing the slaying, you prevented someone else from having your fate..." These words hit Beatix like a blow.....fracturing her resolve to where she couldn't even speak with a counter argument..... the mans words were like a poison she was not resistant to.

Beatrix was reeling with thoughts but the man persisted "Do keep in mind the people you seek validation from for redemption leave bastards behind in their wake every day.... nevertheless, it would seem emotions have gotten involved in this debacle... i've no doubt Crow will find the Radiant heart smashing his hide always in, one by one... the real issue here is you I'm perplexed.... do speak."

"...I......" Beatrix sat taking in the conversation, hate, loathing, despair emotions clung deeply in her chest as she struggled with herself over the matter... these words had truths in them.... she knew they were poison but couldn't stop herself from listening, hearing the truths.

"Although, if i may offer some advice.... it is apparent your former master was less than affectionate in his training.... and if he was it was probably in the unwelcome sort of fashion, it would seem that in your attempts to deny his tenants... you sought the exact opposite.... this is also an extreme and just as before it may become a second prison. That said... the pieces have been arrayed, Crow has made his move... and now we wait... for the Radiant Heart...."

Beatrix finally found words.... and a realization. "This is all just a game of Chess isn't it?"

The man sat and nodded "True, however, a gross simplification is needed. Shall i leave you to your thoughts?"

Beatrix nods and then responds with "yes.... but i must ask you...... what is your purpose in all of this? i feel its deeper than just seeking understanding... if you were as you say i should be..... you would have no care about what another assassin does...."

The man visibly paused then responded with "I suppose i will admit to some extent it is personal but the reasons for that are private, although i assure you it is not in a negative fashion...."

Beatrix gazes at him "Then no matter my choice..... do you pose a threat?"

The man responds... "I suppose that would be a yes and a no.... to you directly, i am not, but i do have differing views with those you associate with... but they are merely views.... i do not resort to the physical form of conflict resolution so casually..."

Beatrix nods to the man "I will think of what you said... your words.... echo some of my own feelings...."

"that is because we've trodden a similar path, you and I, although i never have the audacity to claim to know what you've gone through in the past... Ahh see what you've done? Now I'm reminiscing... it appears i need to take a walk of my own i bid you good day." with that the man bowed and left the sanctuary..... leaving Beatrix to some very disturbed thoughts.

There was a lead.... finally a lead... Beatrix left the safe confines of the sanctuary and orphanage to head out of Baldurs Gate to follow it, she hoped, and feared that the lead was true, but her mind kept whispering... "this is a trap.... they're using her against you" But Beatrix still had to press forward.....
