Now, the question is not concerning getting such a item to me for the eventual use by the guild but what is the general DM consensus on such items?
These would be items general made BY the DM and handed out BY the DM given RP and actions and such by the PC(s) in the event. Now the idea I am aiming for would be items that are far more(maybe MASSIVELY more) powerful then standard loot. But in turn these items would not be kept by the PC permanently, but only for a short time(Maybe two weeks, a month...whenever the next event might be, depending on the DM). Also depending on the type of item, a measure of common sense and responsibility would be placed on the PC(in such case it is a weapon or so). Instead of just getting a standard item that is simply...renamed =P
Idea would be a evil group fought through some lost ruin found a lost relic that can blot out the sun, through the grapevine it is found out by the goodies who in turn try to recover the said item. (Just an example). Now, if a DM does this and is found by another DM would the player be striken of the item, docked 5 levels and banned for 2 weeks for the appearnace of "Cheating" or what?
So...what do you DMs think of such an element added to events and RP?
Thanks, Larzs
