Detect Evil
Waaaaay back in the day, Paladins could do that. Is there any way in BG:TSSC that evil can be detected magically or divinely? Or do you have to do it the old fashion way and torture an admission out of them?

Re: Detect Evil
I think this came up and was shot down.
But I don't remember why.

Re: Detect Evil
What paladins usually do, is to oocly ask the person if they are ok with it. It has been casted on my main toon more than once.
It's probably been shot down because there's no spells like in P&P to hide your alignement.

Re: Detect Evil
Detect Evil was very much abused. DMs cannot be as vigilant as Helm.
When someone calls you elitist, he automatically admits that your RP is superior to his.

Re: Detect Evil
When implemented as a game-mechanic without proper counters it becomes a license-to-smite for some folks. I'm not saying our existing paladins would abuse it, but leaving it on the table for anyone would eventually lead to a bad situation.
If a paladin can get his target to agree to RP it, or can involve a DM, then Detect Evil may be used. Alternately you could wait for them to emote a smirk, which is also a sure-fire method of detecting evil.
