In a wet cave underneath the earth, a thin naked figure scratches away at rock walls in the darkness.

On one wall:
Given to fire again. This time, the world watched me burn. But she wasn't there.
I'll find her.
If I do what my savior asks, I'll find her.

In another corner of the cave:
He has made me into a monster. If you are reading this, you must kill me.

Scrawled onto a boulder:
I have killed them by the dozens.

Etched into another wall:
Down here days. Grow strong off prey.
Learn from bodies.

Rumors spread throughout the Gate as news travels north from the Friendly Arm Inn about the tremendous explosion and fires witnessed in the Cloakwood, most likely at the mine. Apparently there was an incident with goblins and explosives of some sort, though the guards at the FAI were heard to mutter various comments including the word "Adventurers." At this time, the truth of the matter is unknown, but looking at the fires gouting out of the cave, there is probably no air inside to breathe.

The fire came for me a third time, but I hid away from it. My cave is a sauna now.
There is no air, but I still stand.
I do not think I need to breathe anymore.
