Can the undeath domain be added to a surface god ?
Without Versharoon, there's no god that let someone pick the Undeath domain on the surface.

Any gods you have in mind? Ran into this problem myself some time ago. Sadly I think there are only 2 gods in forgotten realms with the undeath domain

What's the problem? Take Myrkul and be happy, ya bloody necroman!

Myrkul doesn't have the Undeath domain allowed "officially".Rainbow Prism wrote:What's the problem? Take Myrkul and be happy, ya bloody necroman!
But I guess no DM will bother me if I create a Priest of Myrkul with the Undead Domain

Myrkul?
Shargaas?
Is the orc deity of darkness, night, stealth, thieves, and the undead. His symbol is a skull on a red crescent moon.

Re: Can the undeath domain be added to a surface god ?
The problem with Undeath Domain is that it's not the same as Death domain...
Death domain is more damage oriented so Myrkul has the power to make you dead. Undeath is more the power to control the undead creatures.
Myrkul does not rebuke undead. He has the power to bring you into the world of dead, a gate keeper.
Death is not the same as Undeath.
Undeath brakes the powers od Death.
So Myrkul is not the master of Undeath.

As long as it's not "too far" from the original domain of a god, it should be fine.
There are a few other domains that have been given to a gods that lorewise are just a bit far stretched, but were done so so that every god has at least 4 domains to pick from.

Sure.. i'm just saying that Death does not equal Undeath....
A God can have both but they are different.
Death kills living.
Undeath commands the dead.

I might also say Yurtrus, due to the plague thing, but that would be more if they used undead that had plagues/disease on them.
I where also thinking of AO, as i read something with undead and him. But considering he dosnt grant spells to clerics of him, that would be pointless.
I like the idea of giving it to the orc's. Give them a little something

why would any dm bother you for doing that? myrkul has power over the dead and he summons undead.... i'd take the domain if i wanted itLaenor wrote:Myrkul doesn't have the Undeath domain allowed "officially".Rainbow Prism wrote:What's the problem? Take Myrkul and be happy, ya bloody necroman!

correct with the exception of one small detail: it's completely wrong because myrkul is god of the dead, not death. that's bhaaldzidek1983 wrote:The problem with Undeath Domain is that it's not the same as Death domain...

Re: Can the undeath domain be added to a surface god ?
death and undeath are two different things
death usually has something to do with people dying
generally speaking, god of the dead only cares about taking account of those that passed, out of myrkul, cyric and kelemvor and even jergal for that matter, none of them had the undeath domain, myrkul and kelemvor are the only ones that even have death
undeath particularly deals those that seek to extend their life beyond its natural means
velsharoon is the only one that has both death and undeath as domains, and again only two have undeath period, there just not that many deities that support undeath to the same degree as velsharoon and kiaransalee
and you can still pick kiaransalee so why not just roll a UDer?

Re: Can the undeath domain be added to a surface god ?
Because I don't want to play as a drow.
ECL+2 on this server, when even no-ECL leveling is a freakin' pain ?
Yeah, no.
Now, honestly, it's not like the Undeath domain is a great one, so powerbuild-wise, I don't care much.
But it's an option that is missing for players of the surface.

Re: Can the undeath domain be added to a surface god ?
Because its against server rules to have a cleric with a domain other then the clerics gods.badmofo wrote:why would any dm bother you for doing that? myrkul has power over the dead and he summons undead.... i'd take the domain if i wanted itLaenor wrote:Myrkul doesn't have the Undeath domain allowed "officially".Rainbow Prism wrote:What's the problem? As for Shargaas it does state he is the orc god of the undead, as such i would not have a problem with him having the undead domain
