Just a quick question, for those of us with high-level druids or warlocks: Can Dragon-Shape druids and Word of Changing Cornugon Warlocks fly?
I mean, obviously they cannot in terms of game mechanics (though an overland fasttravel map would be sweet for flying folks and teleporting wizards), and I imagine that it would be frowned upon to PvP while claiming to be flying. What I am wondering, though, is can winged shapes be used to escape from potential PvP, like, say, a paladin comes across my Cornugon-shifted warlock training in some out-of-doors area. If neither of us really wants to push the issue, but his paladin-ness demands he take action, could a shape-shifted Dragon or Cornugon emote flying away to avert a PvP situation?

As much as a fighter could drink a "Fly" potion I'd say.
=/ You allow them to, you allow everyone, sadly.

If you and the hypothetical paladin both OOCly agree to this RP, then it is pretty much okay. If any involved party doesn't wanna go along with it, you probably shouldn't push the issue.

I always say to play within what the game mechanics allow you to do so. Unless both sides of the group agree with it.

Poo -- most power-built paladin players I know would sell their souls for the chance to smack a poor little Devil-Pact warlock half their level around.

Re: Can shapeshifters fly?
We typically rule "play what's on your sheet" -- if you can't do it mechanically, you can't do it.
As noted, if it's purely for RP, it's fine to use non-mechanical, pnp-accurate abilities so long as everyone's consenting. And, again as noted, you can always ask a DM in an event if you can do something that is not mechanically supported (like flying).
