Not 100% sure but true seeing seems to do the same as blind sight/see invisibility while it being a higher tier spell.
I recall it should detect anything which takes out the fun for sneakers but in it's current form it is rather low budget.
Seen an alternative where it gave 10-20 spot/listen or simply allows you to detect mobs while tracking.
What do the Devs/Dm's think about the current state of this spell?

Re: True seeing
ye, it's a bit broken.
I don't think we would add spot/listen to it as you get that from clairvoyance, and listen from amplify.
It would be to much stacking of spot/listen.

Re: True seeing
As per D&D True Seeing does not grant the ability to see stealthed people or to see through disguisesTrue Seeing
Divination
Level: Clr 5, Drd 7, Knowledge 5, Sor/Wiz 6
Components: V, S, M
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: 1 min./level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)
You confer on the subject the ability to see all things as they actually are. The subject sees through normal and magical darkness, notices secret doors hidden by magic, sees the exact locations of creatures or objects under blur or displacement effects, sees invisible creatures or objects normally, sees through illusions, and sees the true form of polymorphed, changed, or transmuted things. Further, the subject can focus its vision to see into the Ethereal Plane (but not into extradimensional spaces). The range of true seeing conferred is 120 feet.
True seeing, however, does not penetrate solid objects. It in no way confers X-ray vision or its equivalent. It does not negate concealment, including that caused by fog and the like. True seeing does not help the viewer see through mundane disguises, spot creatures who are simply hiding, or notice secret doors hidden by mundane means. In addition, the spell effects cannot be further enhanced with known magic, so one cannot use true seeing through a crystal ball or in conjunction with clairaudience/clairvoyance.
Material Component: An ointment for the eyes that costs 250 gp and is made from mushroom powder, saffron, and fat.
According to D&D you should be able to see hidden magical doors etc.. and not be affected by displacement or blur effects that your enemies use.

Re: True seeing
How about True Seeing purges concealments in a large radius upon being cast.

It shouldn't according to the description. Doesn't mean it can't be made to do so on creatures hostile to the caster but it's not in the description for NWN2 rightt?

Re: True seeing
could hook faerie fire to it somehow, tho since faerie fire has to be used on a target im not sure how that would work
but faerie fire is the only one that actually works against concealment and such right?

Re: True seeing
True Seeing lets you see though Illusions, that which is fake. A Rogue hiding behind a rock...or in the bushes..isn't fake. It is very much real, therefor making complete and total nonsense if it aided in any way to see a stealthed person.
Someone need to change that description to reflect that...

Re: True seeing
Thank you for clearing that one up.
Allowing it to purge concealments on casts as well sounds like a balanced approach.
Would not want it to ignore concealment/blur, just sounds like an overkill with the absence of many other spells.

well that is what true seeing is suppose to doTherlyn wrote:Allowing it to purge concealments on casts as well sounds like a balanced approach.

with true seeing not working as its suppose to it makes displacement and mirror imagine a deadly combo when used together because nothing in game negates them, attack the person and they have 50% concealment, get thru the concealment and way to go you hit the wrong one, then repeatRasael wrote:As per D&D True Seeing does not grant the ability to see stealthed people or to see through disguisesTrue Seeing

Re: True seeing
The thing is...True Seeing should allow the recipient and only the recipient ignore Concealment. Since they are under the effects of the spell, Mr. Smashy to your right that doesn't have the spell is still gonna have to deal with it.

Re: True seeing
It is possible to have treuseeing strip Displacement and Blur from any creatures hostile to the caster.
I'm not sure if that would be too much. Just an idea.

Re: True seeing
This is very hard to script for sure, because it is about the core combat mechanics. You could script a check on true seeing and then a check on target and remove the effect yes, but that will not be correct if it is a group fighting the concealed enemy.
You could simulate it easier/better if you gave the true seeing a conciderable attack bonus vs concealment combined with the effect of the blind fight feat maybe
(Blind fight effectivly halves the concealment of the target as it grants a reroll vs concealment if the first missed for you)
