Background:

Born under a blood red moon, Valaru was not considered extraordinary by any accounts. He was a normal elven child with their normal curiosity, save one, his capacity and hunger for hunting.

At a young age it was remarked that his hunting skills were keen, but his lack of empathy for the other creatures of the wild angered the Wild Elf Rangers who took him on his first great hunts. To Valaru the hunt was everything and each hunt ended in this prey’s death. With patience only elves could bear the Rangers tried to impart to Valaru a sense of love and wonder for wild forest creatures, but each season brought no escape from his deprivation and desire to slay more and more dangerous creatures. It was noted that Valaru did not hunt for sustenance, but only for the thrill of the kill.

Eventually the great Druid council banned Valaru from the ranger’s hunts and ordered Valaru to pray, to understand and more clearly to love his fellow creatures. Weeks turned into months and they in turn became years as Valaru stalked about with a perpetual frown cast upon his elven features.

That was until Guilleno a Ranger of respect whom worked with the Kings of Neverwinter took it upon himself to take Valaru under his tutelage. To teach Valaru the meaning of the forest and the clean thrill of a good hunt. Many nights they spent out in the deep wilds, hunting and learning. Guilleno told many stories of honor and glory hoping to raise this young hunter’s respect for the wild and an understanding of the righteous kill.

But alas, Guilleno was gravely mistaken. Under a dark moonless night he discovered his pupil, Valaru, kneeling at the paws of Malar’s statue, the evil god of the hunt, an elven short blade buried deep in the heart of a young deer as an offering.

Guilleno was heartbroken and rushed to Valaru attempting to dissuade him from the evil god, but Valaru would not repent and was forced to flee into the wilds to roam as an outcast.

It has been rumored that he sought sanctuary near Baldur’s Gate, became a hunter and tracker for men… and in time a hunter and tracker of men.

Goals:

To hunt the deadliest of prey, the challange of a good hunt.
