Background:
Born near the Moonsea in the Earthspur Mountains, Krasc's birth-tribe roamed the snow covered mountain tops, guided by clerics whom worshipped Yurtrus, god of suffering, god of death. The tribe suffered most dearly in this harsh environment, as was the will of Yurtrus...and it made those Grays that survived particularly resilient.
In or around the year 1327 DR, a devastating winter ravaged the Earthspur Mountain range. Krasc's tribe was nearly wiped out...so many died in the harsh climate, including Krasc's immediate blood kin. Never having heard the call of Yurtrus himself, he was nonetheless schooled in the acceptance of deaths inevitability from a very young age, and took to ending his own life by scaling the highest, most fridge peak, until his breath gave out. On the doorstep of death, Krasc wandered into a camp of monks from the Order of the Golden Cup, whom were visiting the nearby Monastery of the Yellow Rose. The monks of Illmater could have easily destroyed Krasc in either fear or mercy, yet they nourished and fed him, as is the calling of their particular order, teaching him the Common tongue...as well as the methods of survival using wisdom, self-direction and inner obedience. When winter broke, the Order moved on, bringing the child Krasc with them.
Krasc, alone and tribe-less, was a willing sponge, and the teachings of the Golden Cup set him upon the path of the self-disciplined...however, equally balanced in the young Orc's mind was a tribal and emotional connection to the ways of Yurtrus—that death is inevitable and always ends up taking the life.
As Krasc reached civilization in transport with the Order, his race became immediately problematic, and he was taunted, ridiculed and was unable to show any sign of his race in public. This situation, combined with the rebelliousness of puberty, caused Krasc to abandon the monks who had shown him another method of living through suffering...but Krasc could see they could not understand his plight as a Gray in the lands of men.
Returning the the Earthspur Mountains, Krasc was unable to locate any remaining members of his blood kin tribe. As he had done ten years earlier, Krasc set out to find his death...and began a journey West—a journey that has taken a decade of walking, living on the edge of civilization, of self-direction—both as a warrior monk and a Gray Orc separated from his kind—on a constant perilous road...which eventually landed Krasc on the Sword Coast.
Arriving on the Coast, Krasc was immediately subjected to the same prejudices his kind have always face, however, he also found company amongst many strong yet tribe-less Grays, constantly on the run from the sword and spell of Humans, Dwarves and Elves.
This situation was one Krasc could not abide.
Goals:
Krasc has been working to form The Brotherhood of Orcbloods: http://bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=18871
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Krasc is an enigma, in that he follows a lawful ideology—a code—and that code forms both the mission and strength necessary to carry out the formation of the Brotherhood...alas, he does not possess the capabilities of a leader at this time in his life. Therefore, he is at best a binding force for the disparate Grays that live on the Coast.
Membership, allegiance and oaths are valued by Krasc in any form. This runs contrary to many of his race, yet this just might be the one trait that will keep the Brotherhood intact. This also makes Krasc have respect for others that follow a code or swear allegiance, which makes him capable of relationships with non-Orc humanoids. However, if that oath would mean harm to any of Orc blood, it would be a clear reason for Krasc to leap to the defense of his kin...at any cost.
OOC: I probably don't have to write this, but players reading this info does not mean your toon knows anything about Krasc, whether friend or foe. Come find out this knowledge via RP in the game!
