Background:
Born on a ship called the Kirate'ykh, he was raised as a sailor. On the ship a wizard resided, looking to see the world. One day when seeing the wizard fend of a pirate ship alone with a fireball, he asked him to teach him. The wizard's name was Kulup Shin, a tall and elder sun elf. Every time he tried to study, his nephew, who received basic monk training, interrupted him by telling him to spar with him. Even though the spars, he was unable to grasp the true path of the Monk, and such only the conditioning remained on him, making him agile and graceful.
Thanks to mixing the magical study with the everyday sailors' chores, he became quite knowledgeable, yet practical. Some say that he has innate magic abilities, but he preferred to learn magic by knowledge rather than whim. When there was knowledge, he always seeked to get atleast a copy of it. Once he had found a spellbook, but it was written in draconic, which only his mentor understood.
Most of his life aboard of ship consisted of talking with the explorers and bards rather than merchants after docking.
During their stay at Baldur's Gate once, he met a charming elf, a she was a bard.fortunely for him, when they had to move along she decided to tag along.
During their stay in Samarach, thanks to the bard's liking of snakes, the locals beleive she was a Yuant Ti, or at least allied with them. For this, they executed her, he was about to lash out at the guards only to be stopped by Kulup, his mentor. They've left samarach immideatly.
During his studes under Kulup, he kept thinking about Samarach and A'ri Lepaith, then his mentor told him "A Dacino's duty never ends unless it deemed complete, and your duty is to study under me, become a great sailor and wizard and bring pride to your former father... Salin Dacino. "
8 Years after the Samarach trouble, the Kirate'ykh got into an intensive storm, which ripped the ship to shreds. Kulup was lost, but his last words were " Find the meaning of ... Kirayte Rahk [Written Kriyte'yhk]. Only Hoihe and his Nephew, Daisuke Dacino survived. waking up near the docks of Baldur's Gate, he began swimming the best he could on the debris he was sleeping on.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Is looking for the meaning of Kirate'ykh for a long time, yet in all the language books he yet read he was unable to find it's meaning, he is determited to enter the
Candlekeep Library, and using the millenia old knowledge to finaly find it.
[It is a made up word, part of the pharse of "fro Yhuarar Arri chal jow, Kirayte Rah awyy, Shor liak tatha, Urk Sha miik, tried to make it sound draconic. should mean The Prideful hidden star of skies, Dragon claw, Thundering blood claw, Strike at storms".] I am thinking of making it part of my travels with Mealir, and once i get avowed. The long part should come from travelling and all, and the translation from the library. Hoihe beleives Kirayte Rah means Sacred wind.]
-Should he get attached to a person like the bard whom he lost in samarach, he is willing to do his best to not let it happen again should they be threatened.Even if it would have him sacrifice something.
-When he is promising something and ends the sentence with "Until i meet valkur in person" He means that he swears until death. It is similiar to his motto of " A Dacino's duty never ends"
