A visionary's contribution?

Unread post by shadedwonder »

I was just reading another post about getting XP in ways other than grinding or RP'ing and questing was mentioned. And I just thought about something: Organization based questing. It gives a character more to RP about while also allowing them access to more quests!

Guilds: Are a lot of the guilds server/programming acknowledged or are they based on RPing with other people whose characters are a part of the organization? Here's the idea I was thinking about:

1. Official guilds (Programmed in and recognized by the DMs and Admins) could have their own physical locations with their own building. Kinda like the way Candlekeep controls entry, but for guild members only. (Maybe even with their own benefits?)

2. WITHIN the guilds could be quests that you'd only gain access to if you're a member. Maybe adding more quests that require gathering ingredients for the mage's guild (or whatever the server calls it) Or for a fighter's type guild they could have a quests to clear out a cave somewhere or maybe a bounty to go find and kill an evil knight (similar to orc chieftain's head quest)

Other ideas for quests:

-Collecting pieces of wood from really strong versions of the tree monsters (Treants?) in the forest for a master fletcher to make bows and arrows

-collecting elemental essences and having some sort of mage pay for a standard fee for them the same way that the blacksmith accepts minotaur horns

-another ore quest: apprentice blacksmiths in beregost need more practice so they send you to grab rare ore from a different location than the original mines?

3. Diety based quests?

Maybe a Cleric of Umberlee sends you to a pirate hideout near roaringshore to exact revenge on someone who didn't pay tribute while traveling at sea?

Or a Druid of Silvanus having a quest where you go to a certain forest to stop bandits/mercenaries from burning it down?
Bilal: Nice, unassuming merchant
Nashira Faine: WonderWoman-esque brawler
Donovan Gann: Brooding warrior
Valora Gann: Wild card with a big axe
Kaelia Klennen: Nerd/Weaponmaster (Staff)

It's not a bad idea, but quests take a bit of time to implement and test.
It's not so easy to add new quests.
