Background:

Kaelia’s mother (Leah) passed away when she was young, so she was mostly raised by her father. (Kael) Her father is a well-traveled adventurer who is fascinated with relics of the past. When Kaelia got old enough her father would sometimes take her with him on his archaeological excursions. It was during one of these outings that the two of them were overwhelmed by monsters and her father wasn’t able to fully protect her. Kaelia suffered a serious wound and was rushed to a nearby monastery in Cormyr.

The last time she remembers seeing her father was right before she was made to drink a strong sleeping potion. (So her wound could be surgically mended without pain) She awoke in stable condition with a letter, saying that her father left and promised he’d return for her. Days turned into weeks, then the weeks turned into months and her father never showed. The monks at the monastery convinced her that she lacked the survival skills to leave at such a young age, so she agreed to stay there with them.

Life with the Order of the Sun Soul was anything but smooth, as Kaelia struggled with wanderlust, and resentful feelings of abandonment. However, they were able to teach her martial arts and improve her discipline. She isn't very confident in hand to hand striking, and due to bad memories she refuses to use bladed weapons. As a result of this, Kaelia opted for the quarterstaff as her weapon of choice.

5 years later, at the age of 19, Kaelia had learned enough that she was ready to leave the monastery and hopefully find the answers to the questions her father left her with. She thanked the monks and bid them farewell as she set out on foot. Destination: Wherever HE might be.


Goals:

Kaelia’s current goal is to get stronger while searching for clues as to where her father may be. Kael, a seasoned treasure hunter/adventurer, always leaves his name and timestamp on any historical/archaeological site he visits. She had used these marks to track him to the sword coast, and will continue to do so until she finally catches up with him.


Misc Facts:

-Because of traumatizing events with her father in the past, Kaelia does not like to fully put trust into anyone-- especially men. She’s generally a courteous, nice person but very picky about the risks she’ll take, so as not to have to put her life in other’s hands. (She won’t venture with parties that appear incapable because she doesn’t want to have to fully trust them.)

-I envision Kaelia’s father to be kind of a douchebag, womanizing version of Indiana Jones. He genuinely loves her, but has a sort of mental madness about him and his priorities are (obviously) mixed up.
