DM Xzar’s NOTG Weekend Events

Companies Lost:

Players: around 8
DMs: Grave and Xzar

Early in the battle for Beregost, five companies of Flaming Fist bowmen from the 1st Archery Regiment were dispatched from Baldur’s Gate to the Flaming Fist’s blockade north of Beregost. At the last moment the 1st and 2nd company were ordered to stay put and reinforce Baldur’s Gate itself. 3rd, 4th and 5th company set off along the Trade Way.
Only the 3rd company arrived at the blockade however, reporting that 4th and 5th got ambushed near the Lion’s Way intersection.
A group of volunteers set off, without military escort, to investigate the ambush on the two archery companies. When they arrived at the crossroads between the Trade Way and the Lion’s Way, they found a lost regimental banner and traces of blood. Following the trail of blood the volunteers happened upon a dark section of the Cloakwood, where the remnants of the two companies were held prisoner by Amnian soldiers. Following a brief but violent battle the volunteers managed to liberate the Fist bowmen. Dispite the volunteer’s best efforts, out of two whole companies only four bowmen made it to the blockade.

Rewards: experience and gold from the war coffers

The Beregost Campaign:

Players: around 15
DMs: Xzar (Grave and Carebear assisted with Amnian troops)

Following the fall of Beregost to Amnian forces and the evacuation of Beregost, the commander of the Flaming Fist blockade ordered a company of Flaming Fist mercenaries to assault the town. The Glorious 2nd Mercenary Company marched into town and met the Amnian forces head on. Following the Company’s valiant example was the mighty Dwarf Korund and several other volunteers. Even though the Second Company was slaughtered, the Dwarf Karond triumphed.
Following this, the commander gave Karond a field promotion to captain. Then ordered captain Korund to take command of a regiment consisting of the Fist’s 7th and 8th Irregular Companies and a group of volunteers. Korund immediately lead his troops into Beregost and managed to secure the northern part of town, constructing barricades and even two catapults.
These catapults would later fall into the command of ‘corporal’ Mealir.

Dispite early successes, captain Karond’s regiment was ultimately forced to retreat out of Beregost and forced to rejoin the Flaming Fist blockade.

Rewards: experience and field promotions

Barricaded in Beregost

Players: around 10
DMs: Xzar

A wounded Travenhurst guard limped into the Friendly Arm’s courtyard. He was met by a number of adventurers, resting far from the frontline. Hearing the guard’s plea for help, the adventurers set off to liberate Gerard Travenhurst of the Travenhurst Manor in Beregost.
After a not-so-eventful journey, the travelers happened upon the Travenhurst Manor. Through trickery did they manage to dispose of the Amnian soldiers at the manor’s front door.
Unfortunately the doors were blocked. The only way in proved to be through an open window. Cunningly, the travelers managed to disguise themselves as Amnian soldiers. This disguise proved useful throughout the manor. Most Amnian guards were either avoided or fooled into a false sense of safety and ultimately assassinated.
Finally, the travelers managed to secure Gerard Travenhurst, lord of the manor. They escaped the manor by rope, dangling from the second floor of the manor.

Rewards: experience and some of Travenhurst’s valuables.

A rumor (or truth) spreads around the town of Beregost... A Helmite member of the Everwatch Knights of Helm and two other adventurers recently reported to local Amnish authorities that a stable horse had fallen victim to murder in the middle of town. It is unknown who committed such a heinous crime of murdering livestock, but local speculation pointed to anything from a return of the Dead Crows to other usual criminal suspects. The adventurers reporting the crime seemed to speculate that the dead horse had no bruises or signs of puncture or slashing wounds, but rather bared a dark black mark, perhaps magical in origin...
