1) All new drow characters recieve it by racial default on incarnation, can older drows gain access to the language through DM intervention?
2) I thought I saw somewhere that comprehend languages / tongues etc will not allow anyone to learn drow sign, though on looking through the descriptions on the updates doesn't appear to say such, is this correct? and also do lore checks still have the ability to discern the meaning?
3) I'd like any lore anyone has on the nature of the language, specifically what can and cannot be expressed. From the books I've read it is often used as strategic hand signals i.e. 'hold', 'move', 'wait', 'danger', 'silent' etc rather than 'how's your mother? she looked stunning in that slinky red robe yesterday'
From the FR Wiki:
4) As a note because it has been coded such:Drow Sign Language is a silent hand code used to communicate in the Underdark. Unlike other languages that must be heard to be comprehended, Drow Sign Language must be seen to gather meaning. It has no alphabet or written form.[1] Humans and other goodly races often confuse the language's motions as spell conjurations.[2]
