Tryss grew up in a loving home. He learned all he needed to know from his parents and his only to proud grandfather. His only sibling, a sister named Rosemary, was his greatest admirer. To her, her older brother was a model of everything just and right in the world. Groomed by his stepfather Damian, for the city watch of waterdeep. An honor he dreamed of even from a young age. Damian was the closest thing Tryss ever had to a father, his own father leaving his mother, Catherine, pregnant and alone.
Tryss excelled in many things, his mind was sharp as the axe blade he hons, he was a fast learner, an able hand, a strong soul, and reliably loyal. However Tryss met with some misfortunes and spent his time with a bad crowd. His friends from youth had grown up in broken homes, acted out and were unrulely. He never thought that any of that would drag him from his purpose. After taking his training and learning his art, Tryss joined the city watch. It was a day of great honor for his step father, for his family. Even Cuthbert his grandfather who was a wealthier citizen of waterdeep, found pride in his grandson's zeal. Yet hoped one day he would take over the family business.
But fate has it's own designs. after several months of working a post, Tryss, with other guards witnessed an incident that would change his destiny. A friend of his youth was involved in a robbery. After fleeing the guards who tried to apprehend him. Tryss caught up to him, finding him hiding in an alley. Though his friend was in a tough place Tryss tried to sneak him to safety. however his actions did not go unnoticed by citizens of the town he saught to protect.
The captain of the watch at the time had grown a great fondness for Tryss, and trying to let his actions go secretly without criminal repurcussions had the young man expelled from the city watch instead. An upset that Damian would not recover from. An embarrassment to his stepfather on the very grounds of his own honor caused the man to become bitter, even to the point of drunkeness. Damian disowned the lad, thrust him from his house and closed the doors behind the only son he ever knew. Something that the years have caused Damian to regret more deeply than anything in his life.
From then on, Tryss has wandered aimlessly, calling no place home. His only true skills in combat he has joined mercenary group after mercenary group in hope to form some brotherhood with his fellow mercs. However nothing fit, wishing for the world he could turn back and knowing he could never go home. He eventually himself became deeply bitter, closing off any compassion he felt for others, closing off any ties to his family and the life he knew. slowly becoming the embodiment of war. Living for nothing more than the thrill of combat.
Goals:
To survive.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
His grandfather has passed, if anyone, Cuthbert was the last remaining ties he had to humanity. anything that reminds him of that might spark some interesting plot.
