The Dark Brotherhood ~ roleplay thread

Unread post by Knightmare »

Just another shadowy figures walks the streets of Baldur's Gate at night. At first glance, there is nothing particularly conspicuous about him, but the more alert might sense that nothing could be further from the truth. He can be seen slipping in and out of the back-alleys, always sticking to the shadows when possible.

At some point during the darkest hours of the night, a feeble scream can be heard from a back-alley in the East Gate district, but when the Fist arrives to the scene of crime, the perpetrator is long gone, leaving only a dead body in a pool of blood.

While the Fist are pre-occupied elsewhere, a hastedly composed message is written onto the balcony adjacent to the center square - and more similar messages can be found on the walls throughout the district. Below the message, the bloody imprint of a hand is always cearly visible.
The hour of twilight is upon us. A gathering will soon take place.
For those of you worthy, follow the signs, they will lead the way.
~ A casket for the divine
Where good and evil floods
In halls made of stone
Where man reach for the Gods ~

Follow the signs!

As dawns breaks two days later, the mysterious sigil portraiting a bloody hand appears on the backside of the temple of Helm in the Palace District. Just above it, a new message is written in red.

~ Meaning is sought in material goods
The value of life, measured in gold
But is there more to life than this
Maybe one day, the truth will unfold ~

One of the following mornings, people can tell, that in the dead of night, a new message has been written upon a building, this time in the Harbor District. The tell-tale red hand this time adorns the building of the Merchant League. The message written above reads:

~ The place where the soil is soaked with blood
Where violence is considered to be art
The hour of destinity is upon us
As the world will witness a new start ~

On the walls of the arena outside Baldur's Gate another sign can be found.
~ Where the land is swallowed by the sea
In a place where sorrows float away
If your heart and purpose is true
You will not be lead astray ~

In a central location, inconspicuous to most, hiding in plain sight, the first gathering took place.
Pleasantries and formalities were exchanged as the first Dark Brothers and Sisters met, and several people unified in a common cause.

The formal and ceremonial initiations are yet to come, as the process of rallying like-minded individuals to the cause is still in progress. Once sufficient members have been included in the Dark Brotherhood, and an appropriate base of operations has been established, the protocols of initiation will commence and the heiratical structures of the group established.

The surface was barely scratched and there is still so many things to address, both of practical and personal nature.

The second gathering will soon be upon us...

Next to the fading red hand on the Merchant's League, a note hangs smelling faintly of decay.

"Find me, dark friends. We might find friendship to be mutually advantageous.

Underneath the sign on the walls of the arena is a note put in place by a magical arrow. On this piece of parchment lies the symbol of Mykrul, a white mask with piercing green eyes, and a bow - all set in a triangle formation; the initials A.V. being in the centerpiece. At the very bottom of this note - three words: "Looking for contact".
Rhythm is the basis of life, not steady forward progress. The forces of creation, destruction, and preservation have a whirling, dynamic interaction.

Sanguinary walks around the Gate, passing the bloody hand prints and notices the notes left. He writes nothing of them down, only repeats them in his head mouthing the words. As he leaves the gate, and heads south, he notices a hid fighting a bear. He licks his lips and run off a bit to cast invisibility.

After making a mess of a cave filled with hagspawns in some woods. A necromancer on his way crosses the path of a dwarf. The dwarf seeing the vampire at his side, question the magi. Which leads only in hearing nothing but the usual we are many. Telling the necro that its always better if theres one less, a battle happened beteewn the two. The vampire being sent away, only the necro laid dead. So thought the dwarf, as he was a palemaster and easily looks dead when unconscious. The dwarf threw the body out of the cave, which was quickly snatched up by two wolves seen running with the body dragging it there mouths heading south of candlekeep.
