Diffident and severe, he wants to be free from other people's expectations and serve no cause but his and the temple's ones, even if he will surely help friends if they're in danger or he believes their aims are right. Gold can help for those who are not directly his friends, but don't call him a mercenary or an expendable. He sometimes can be bullheaded and avar if he plans or really needs something.

Background:

Eden was born in 1313 from a small family of middle class merchants based in Easthaven, Icewind Dale. His father was a roguish and mediocre soldier, that never reached the higher ranks of the army, but honest and fair towards his family. Once retired from the army, he invested all his gold to make the family’s small trade company more efficient and to assure his sons a proper life. The mother was nothing special.
When he was young, Eden was sent as merchant apprentice along with a caravan which travelled all around the north of Sword Coast to sell his goods. Reaching Evereska to import the ore mined from the hills around the city, in 1321, due to the assassination of King Zaor of Evermeet, the company is not allowed to head back to the north, due to the restrictive emergency laws imposed by the Elders, and due to the fear of the plague spreading around the Sword Coast, the caravan could not even stay in the city, but they were allowed to camp outside. Eden stayed among the hills of Evereska for two years, till 1323, when the plague is declared over. Here he learned the elven language.
Tired of this life and due to his rebel adolescent spirit, he started to hang around with a bad company of crooks and pirates and to join them in some incursions. He worked with them for a short time, since his arrival in Roaringshore, where he was refused and dismissed by the other members of the gang, due to the strange things he could do, as making items glowing, change colour to poisons, enlight metal items. In Roaringshore, alone and unprotected, he was robbed and harmed by a couple of criminals, which he killed subsequently with the help of some strange spontaneous magic. Frightened by the situation, and feeling a sense of anxiety and guild, he took the first ship sailing that night.
Fate leaded him on an merchants ship sailing from Roaringshore to Westgate. Here he start to serve as bargee, till a great ship of helmites came to the city. Eden will be later told the helmites came to survey the city because in 1312 a backed member of a sect of Shar sold in the city the Helm of Helm, a prayer tome dedicated to the God of Guardians, causing battles in the city: the Everwatch Knights came to check if the frequent riots in the city were anyhow linked with the book that came to the city thirty years before.
Due to his strong body, the helmites offer him some work, and Eden is fascinated by the faith of the group. One day, as he saw the chapel empty, he came inside to repeat the same words the helmites said every morning in there, and suddently he felt uplifted and mighty. He so decided to talk with the helmites chief to be admitted in the cult. After a long training, he his allowed to pray among the others.
His lonely nature leaded him to work harder than the majority of other apprentices, and so become skilled. Amazed by the power he started to gain, he soon reaches a decent grade in the churches’ rank. As the helmites get back to the Sword Coast, he is left in Westgate with a small team of other young priests.
During these years, a clairvoyant at the temple told him his family in Icewind Dale still have a merchant company and that he now has a brother. He even told him that he "will meet his fate in a deep place, where there is no sunlight and where elves are not like the ones we know". Anyway, he assured that this will not be his time to die.
Solitary, he trains a lot and pray the whole day to become always more powerful and to reach the highest grades of the ranking. But envy started to grow in a couple of his teammates, since they considered him as a threat for their own carreer. These started to bully him and lie to the chiefs about Eden’s behavior. One morning they were found lifeless and hanged. Eden is taken for a judgement, but, since there were no proof against him, he suffered no consequences. Anyway, since the other members of the team started to treat him as an opponent, he asked to be transferred from Westgate to the temple of Nashkel, where, due to its position, he can combine self interest and church duties.
Here he’s trying to perfect his fighting style and master the techniques of the best warriors of the sword coast, using both his strenght and his brain to damage his enemies. His fights are always anteceded by a phase of study, when he concentrate about his opponents to understand where to hit and how to make the battle always shorter.
He expects his deity to give him always more power, since he thinks he could be the one to serve his deity much better than others.
He actually lives as an hermit among the mountains around Nashkel, and uses the city as base for his needs and the temple for his clerical urgencies.
