'Lords and M'lady while traveling north thru Thunders Ride to Triel we observed a plume of smoke a couple of miles to the Southeast of the Village of Triel. Upon investigating, we found a contigent of Black orcs, who had made camp in this area. As we were outnumbered at least three to one , maybe more, I decided the most prudent course of action was to observe and return to Triel. Upon Reaching Triel we learned that they had indeed sent three immissaries or messengers to the city of Baulders Gate, which apparantly never made it to the city. And are upon threat of imminent attack from these Orcs, as they informed us that the smoke plume grows closer to the village by the day. They are requesting reinforcements immediately to quell the Orc threat, and give defense to the Village. It is estimated, if left without reinforcements, the Orcs will reach Triel in approxiamately 5 days. Currently we amassing as many of our allies as possible to march back to Southeast of Triel to try to head the orcs off before they reach Triel. Reinforcements will be of a dire need, please send them immediately.
Sincerely
Seth Siger
Knight General of the Order of the Silver Rose
After reporting to the Dukes, They gather as many of their allies and friends they can find. Even those who've never traveled with them before, after being told they may lose thier lives for the people of Triel against these most dangerous vile beasts, offer to come along and fight.
The Huge group once again heads back down to the lands South East of Triel and they try to take on the Orcs and save the lives of all those in the town that supplies the Gate with their precious life giving grain. They utilized good tactics, worked together and were a fiersome fighting force... but to no avail. There were simply too many of them... 100 at last count from the scouts. They were forced to retreat and return to the town of Triel to speak with the commanding officer of the Fist responsible for the safety of the people there.
As they await the decision of the Flaming Fist commander as to whether or not to evacuate the city of its innocent citizens and if so to where, they begin doing an assessment of the town and try to formulate plans of action on how to best defend it.

Borbag returning from days spent in dark and dank caves, mines and caverns culling the creatures that threaten the trade and lions way finds, various missives at the Order. Instead of heading straight for his (now miss-shapen) bunk, he gathers supplies (including those that have earned him the nickname 'walking armory') and immediately leaves for triel, his trusty pack mule at his side.

Re: The Fate of Triel
Laisren heard the reports, with it all of the hope and joy he held seemed to ebb away. How could this be, such great numbers...., he thought to himself. The once valiant and proud elf that he had been not so long ago, began to dispare. It was not the enemy that caused him this but rather it was his own happiness. He had thought these moments of respite would last, if not forever, then at least for some time.
Their gravest of enemies seemed intent to follow them into these northern lands and the very people he now resided with had no idea the great devastation the enemy of Corellon's children would bring. Now, it was but the humans whom would pay the great cost in lives as Laisren, against all his great inclination of anger and terror, was forced to command his people to stand down from the looming battle. The battle that would decide wether his enemies would entrench themselves within the lands his people had hoped to travel freely, the battle that may decide the fate of many of those whom he called ally in the war to defend his people in the south.
He saw the bristling anger within Tarl's eyes and Laisren once again began to feel the same shame he had felt of his father. What could he do, would he allow his people, the Dharashans, to forsake the wishes of the Elders and meet their sworn enemy in battle, or would he stay true to his word to abide the ones whom had offered them safety and survival when they were lost. Laisren looked down at hsi hands and remembered picking up and carrying the dead bodies of his followers. Those whom died in the fort by the river, at the hands of those beasts who now begin to swarm toward the town of Triel.
His anger welled, his dispare increased and a great storm brewed within the core of his being. It was not over for him, it would never be over, he thought. He stood, motioned two moon elven women to his side. They marched toward the Hall and so it seems, the di would be cast once more.........

(((I would encourage factions to - after internal deliberation - post here what plans/preparations they have made over the 5-6 days during the Orc advance. If you want to keep them private, PM the DM/ADM usergroups.
Faction leaders should make these posts (so that we don't get varied opinions on what is being done). Also, keep in mind you pick a direction and roll with it, don't try to cover every possible angle, resources are limited, lets use our judgement to reflect that. I realize most of these decision have been - if not already made - at least discussed,
Lets try to get any such preparation posts in by Friday))).

Re: The Fate of Triel
Black Orc scouting parties criss-cross the landscape through much of the territories north of Baldur's Gate and in the region of Triel and Soubar. War Trolls are seen from afar, standing high above low lying tree tops. Skirmishes occur between Orc and all the rest that oppose their kind.
The Black Orcs move like shadows in the night—keen senses and skills honed in the woodlands have trained elite fighters, barbarians and clerics that rival even the greatest of elven rangers. At every turn, those that seek out the Black Orc's movements count ten, twenty, thirty Orcs on a ridge or crossing a stream...then, like a fading mist they disappear into the night. Utilizing a single file march and laying feints amongst the trails, the Black Orcs toy with those that would track them. It remains to be seen just who are the hunters, and who is the hunted.
Combined knowledge shared amongst the trackers that seek to determine just what total force the Black Orcs remain learn that it must be one hundred Black Orc barbarians of the greatest wickedness, obviously being led by a remaining Orc Warlord...or perhaps, even the greatest of all foes, the one spoken of in learned elven as the blood hunter, Gajutar.
Additional knowledge is also shared: while an estimate of one hundred warriors of epic strength are thought to be active, there exists additional tracks of non-combatants—many females, cubs and kobolds amongst the tribe—those that move in parallel to the fighting force. In short, the full Black Orc tribe has either amassed or retreated to this zone in the northern territories.
As pressure is put upon them, so will they let loose in equal, opposite force.

* Sir Seth, Lady Angelina and others make preperations for the onslaught by bringing tents, blankets, and healing supplies to set up the Triage center in a safe place .. the Tower on the other side of the Boresky bridge. It's close and easily defendible. Meanwhile ... Lady Elvina sends a formal request for an emergency audience with the Dukes regarding the Fate of Triel*
**edit** when looking at the map of the sword coast this wouldn't make sence really.. ?? Anyone have milage info on what is where on this server or is it supposed to be exactly as on the map of the sword coast??

Stonebar wrote:Revenark spoke out against the idea of moving the towns populations often across wild country to the Gate with the wagons of food needed for such, and the effect the old and young will suffer in such an difficult march of almost 200 miles as the Wyvern fly.
Though the idea seems one of the only path he fears. Though studying the maps it seems that the city of Elturel is only about 75 miles away. Still many days of marching for villager, but there is a road to follow at least. While it is south, it is also west rather then east. If scouts can be send to search out the most likely path the Orc must take, a choke point (a favored tactic of the normally out numbered Dwarves) can be picked to funnel their army, and reducing their effective numbers. If the Orc can be delayed and the Orc scouts now distracted with our force it will give the people time to reach Elturel.
He brings this up to the Flaming Fist commander, after asking around for any other ideas and suggestions. Revenark Stonehold being open to all and any ideas he can get.
