Certain new spells.

Unread post by Snarfy »

I'm not sure if this has been asked before but is there anywhere to purchase the new 'Alarm' and 'Dimension Door' spells? I've been to the scroll selling merchants in BG, CK, and the one near Beregost but none of them have the spells. Are these something we need to get from a DM if we're level 30?

Ye you would probably have to ask a DM.
They are not for sale at a merchant.

this is why I make those spells requisite for my apprentices to pick, at lower levels..

Isn't that like a fighter asking a DM for equipment? Shouldn't they just buy it from another player after it drops from loot?

Edit: Seems the scrolls can't currently be scribed. I know I'd sure like to have stacks of Alarm!

I don't think these scrolls can't be scribed, that's the issue.

Certain scrolls can't be scribed. We used to have a comprehensive list of those which could not be scribed, but it might take some digging to find it (assuming we didn't sticky it, and we may have). And it needs updating besides.

DMs aren't required to give you a spell that you really want, just because it cannot be scribed. You're encouraged to take the spells you really want on level up.

That being said, DMs will sometimes listen to player wishes if you express them during a DM event, with regards to awards at the end of the event. You might be able to ask for a scroll of the spell you want instead of the XP/GP award, for example. It depends largely on the DM and the scale of the event.

The problem is if I'm level 30 I don't really have the option to take them at level up... and for upcoming guild specific events I'm finding myself in need of those spells. :| Sooooo, time to start brown nosing then?

I can find out if Alarm can be scribed or not if someone wants to know just let me know through PM or on here. I picked it at level 2 on my drow wizard.

RP going to Candlekeep. Talk with one of the prominent wizards there. I can think of one in particular that would gladly help Sjinn out!
