Evasion

Unread post by AlfarinIcebreaker »

How do you guys cope without it? I recently rcred my Ranger into a Fighter and he has no Evasion feat, which is absolutely annoying against traps, casters and those pesky giants/trolls which bombard me with boulders.

I'm level 21 now and I was wondering how do you guys cope without it, and where should I try to train? Also, there are there any shop items which grant the feat?

By having a reasonable amount of hitpoints and abundance of healing kits. And as for grinding, pretty much anywhere goes, you just have to take it under consideration that nastiest chest traps can drop you by 180 points of damage, and if your charatcer is strength based; get Improved Knockdown to drop casters when they try to cast. (NPCs mages cast spells in specific order, so it is not hard to learn the right moment to use knockdown.)

And nope, no one sells items with that feat.

What Monty said. Evasion is for low HP classes like rogues for surviveability.

As for where to level, anything that gives 20-40 points of experience. For example if you can handle the Mummies and Shadow Priests (and the two boss gargoyles) in the Field of the Dead Crypt, you get decent amount of experience and loot. After that you could try the Ogre Cave.

And like with almost all epic characters, you start to rely on the once per week quests for a large percentage of your weekly experience gains.

I am addicted to evasion... more than I am to hips. I don't enjoy any build without evasion.

Characters with evasion go anywhere and laugh at the traps and reflex to save spells. Ask the Dragolich... he knows

As a general rule, a good powerbuilder includes evasion in their build unless they do not have need for it, but then again, you will not get EW. As another general rule, a camp fire build does not need evasion.

I had a hard time on my Wizard/Cleric Gish with low reflex at first and unfortunately this work around would not help a fighter but........

DR spell: Stoneskin, G Stoneskin, Premonition, etc.....
Elemental Protection/immunity Spells
Shadow Shield/Death ward
Greater Resistance Spell

This mixture of spells and you will own the Hill Giants, Trolls and even survive Durlag's but you have to be pretty decent level with a large spell book. If you have access to those spells on either side, then you are effectively safe for their duration.

I don't think it is necessary to have to have Evasion but it sure does make a difference. I don't know how to replace it on a fighter save maybe FAST HEALING II feat :|

No, really. They're great! 4 regen per round for 13 rounds every 5 minutes (wiki says 3,5minutes, but it's really 5) is great. Have Combat Focus, Combat Vigor and Combat Awareness on my fighter. Combat Awareness does practically NOTHING other than improve combat vigor, which is a bit disappointing...

Unfortunately the combat feats are viable on builds with many Fighter levels, even then... The requirements - 13WIs and 3-4 feats - is a very big investment for 4regen/13rounds every 5mins. One could save the feats for something else and use healing kits/potions

Too bad that I like Elves so much, I wanted to avoid XP penalty so I skipped on Rogue dip but now I regret it. When you look at it, Wood Elves aren't that great of a Fighter race anways, since they have -2 to Intelligence (which is required for Combat Expertise and Improved Knockdown, staple Fighter feats) and they have Ranger as favored class.

I might reroll again since high teens aren't that hard to level up from. I've been toying with the idea of Elven Monk, those get Improved Evasion.
