Beregost Lore

Unread post by Nomster »

The server thread on Beregost lore raises a few questions for me.
Beregost’s governor strongly disapproves of explorations of the ruins. Although there is a five-person town council, the governor’s word is law in Beregost, and he is a tireless proponent of farming, starting up new businesses, and improving the place. He is also Most Radiant of Lathander (high priest of the temple) Kelddath Ormlyr, and his temple troops police the town, keeping it safe so that trading, meetings, and spending at the shops are brisk. In this, he has two powerful allies: the wizard Thalantyr, a conjurer of great repute who unfortunately wasn’t at home when I visited, and the smith Taerom “Thunderhammer” Fuiruim. Kelddath has also successfully encouraged several important Amnian merchants to establish estates around Beregost, notably the Craumerdaun family, whose fine horses (now bred here) are highly prized in Amn and Tethyr.
The FR wiki states that Kelddath Ormlyr was ^all that in 1368 though I can't say where they got the number from (the BG game maybe). Has Keldath Ormlyr ever been the governor in Beregost..? If so, what happened to him?

The section on Beregost could use a BIG update. I could write an update for it and add more details, if that would be alright...? Its a problem when it comes to RP and you have to correct people even though they read what they thought to be the correct source.

-A section about a non-existing tavern yet nothing about the existing inn.
-Under Amn's rule
-Governor Change (its Isabella Beninio)

Keldath was the governor of Beregost when we ran the Amn-Gate war.

He was 'caught' in the middle of that war, as Beregost. The Morning Song was destroyed (now rebuilt), and the temple of Lathander kinda lost their autority in Beregost, as it became a protectorate of Amn.

In the past, it was Lathander knights protecting the streets of Beregost. Now it's Amnian guards. Though they mostly all retreated to help with the Tethyr thing.

But yes, as a DM I did RP 'politics' with some players involving Keldath. I also RPed him whenever someone wanted something done in Beregost that required the attention of the governor.

I am unaware of Keldath's wereabouts as of now, though.
