Computer Optimisation

Unread post by McGondy »

Hi all, I've constantly been trying to optimise game settings to get the best performance from this game, though I've noticed some issues.

FYI I am using the Steam edition of NWN2 (pity I found out about GoG after I bought it!) and my computer is a pretty high end machine from 2011 with a 2600k and 6950 with unlocked shaders.

The main issue is that my text "bounces" when I am moving, e.g. when I activate stealth or any other mode.

I also can't find a way to reliably change CPU affinity. I wish to set it to an "actual" core, not a HT one. I have tried making a small batch file:

Code: Select all

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\neverwinter nights 2\"

start /affinity 4 nwn2main.exe
to offload it from my main core onto the never used third, however as soon as I get ingame it runs off the first! Makes for an angry McGondy. I have tried manually setting them in Task Manager only to be denied access.

Finally, is there a way to force hardware sound? I have quite a decent soundcard (asus branded as opposed to creative) and I cannot select it. I feel offloading the sound to a dedicated board and increasing the voices will make for a much better play experience.

I've scoured the net, but I am yet to find a solution to any of these =[
If anyone has some ideas, please comment below :)

[EDIT]: I am also having some difficulty getting the CEP to work. I receive an error stating that access is denied opening nwn2main.exe. Check that it isn't set to run as administrator (it isn't). Tips?
