Choking Powder

In the description of choking powder, it states that the powder creates a 'stinking cloud.' My question is this: would immunity to the Stinking Cloud spell also work against choking powder? Is the choking powder item coded to be preventable by things that prevent stinking cloud?

I ask, because one of my PCs makes extensive use of alchemical doo-dads, choking powder included, and an ioun stone which grants immunity to stinking cloud (among other things)came up on the auction forum recently. Would equipping this ioun stone protect me from my own choking powder, allowing my to throw it around willy-nilly?
