Hello I used search first but didn't see anything that directly applied, though there was about 70 pages of results.
Anyways I was wondering if you ever have to roll Bluff for any situation that doesn't involve a DM? My characters Bluff is maxxed but I find myself never wanting to use it because I almost instantly get metagamed by everyone no matter how high I roll and even how badly they fail at sense motive. At the very least you usually get treated differently as soon as you roll Bluff for any reason.
For instance, people will pay more attention to you, follow you around, try to catch you in a lie, act distrusting regardless of bluff success, etc. The worst part is it's impossible to prove they're metagaming because they can always just claim "that's what my character would do."
So do I ever need to roll bluff? Is it a mostly pointless gamble where you hope the other person doesn't, in any way, react to the OOC roll?
Thanks

Re: Bluff/Lying
Players never need to roll, respond, or acknowledge to rolls from other players unless a DM specifically calls for it. Unless a DM acknowledges it the roll has no purpose except that which all players involved chose to accept.
You can go ahead and lie your head off in good conscience without rolling any dice if you so choose, your character has enough experience to make it second nature.

Re: Bluff/Lying
Thanks for the answer.
Though it kind of sucks that someone could technically counterroll then ignore the results and still be within the rules if they so choose.
