Background:

Lev was born in Urmlaspyr, Sembia, to a family trying their luck in the shoemaking business. His father, already an older man when he married Lev's mother, died when Lev was 7, leaving the young woman the workshop, a warehouse that doubled as their home, a horse and 3 children. Lev's older brother had already learned their father's trade and taught it to his younger brother while they kept the production. Lev's mother insisted he studied tho, planning to have the youngest son lead the business when he was able. She found another husband again 3 years after Lev's sister found hers, and left the business to the oldest son.
Lev lived with his brother for some years, but joined an adventuring band and found that he preferred that way of life than the one of a shoemaker. He has been keeping in touch ever since, but rarely visiting.

Lev was privately taught by a Moon Elf whom he describes as "the one and only Eresthor Inglorion" who loved the design of their shoes and was a good teacher to Lev and his siblings for the better part of a decade. He took music lessons too, and studied magic, as he showed talent for the Art. He was also introduced to adventurers when watching Eresthor perform around Urmlaspyr he didnt like the stage himself. What he really liked was the tales and descriptions. And the magical loot. Being an apprentice bard in the taverns of Urmlaspyr was an apprenticeship on its own, and Lev might have stayed and become a performer if he didnt detest singing so much. Almost everything goes in Sembian trading, and Lev was the one from the Cavaldi family to get his hands dirty at times. Inspired by the tales from Eresthor and adventurers of their journeys, Lev used the family's workshop to develop his "hobby": assembling and disassembling locks, traps and all sorts of gadgets. While he preferred to barter and earn his share in trading, his hobby came in handy when he chose to make life easier for thieves targeting a rival's warehouse, while gaining his own family a measure of security.

Goals:
After traveling with groups of adventurers for a good while around the Sea of Falling Stars area, Lev took interest in the Sword Coast and came to Baldur's Gate to get a feel of the area, find adventure and wealth, and even maybe start a shop or business of his own. He also recently came up with the idea of collecting his drawings, designs and texts, and instead of only including them in the letters he sends to his family, archive and organise, maybe even publish them.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Since he has still very little connection to the Sword Coast area, probably something to do with his family, teacher or adventurers he traveled with before coming to the Sword Coast.
