Background:
"Born of a tavern wench and an elven mercenary in Luskan, and raised in that very same tavern, he grew up becoming a bard, working, singing and performing in the bar. In this very bar he learned to use the crossbow, a tool he used to quickly work out unwanted tavern patrons (which there were many of). He'd use the counter to keep a fair distance between himself and the drunkards, and his crossbow to make sure they understood the message.
His father would still come and visit the tavern every now and then, teaching him his language, until his mother would run him off again. Their relationship was ... strained ... to say the least, and Drake's mother never really cared for him.
After a couple of years his father stopped visiting. Due to his mother's hatred for his father, and his father abandoning him, he started resenting his elven heritage. Since he never really fit in with the humans, or the elves, he started growing a beard to try and fit in with the humans.
After years of working in the tavern, he realised his ambitions were greater than working in a simple tavern, and he took off. For a while he lend his services to various captains, roaming the seas, establishing trade routes. After a while he grew tired of this, and wished for a better life. This is when he reached Baldurs Gate."
