Short rant in honor of Earth Day this past week...

Unread post by Synde »

I just saw someone set down their junk loot (loot worth no coin) right in front of the merchant and walk away. If you are reading this, I hope you know you are the worst kind of person. There is really no excuse for not to opening a fire and getting rid of the junk yourself or taking it to a trash barrel. In my opinion, there are few things that show a greater disrespect for others, and I can only hope you carry yourself differently in your everyday interactions in real life.

If this comes off as harsh it's only because of my burning hatred of littering and people who do it. Don't be a (person), people, pick up your trash please.

Happy belated Earth Day!

The best part was a couple of days ago, when I found a quiver of silver +1 fire arrows lying in front of the vendor.

Sure! I don't mind the extra 47 gold on my uncharismatic character!

I think it is a bit harsh .

While I'm not proud of it, it took me quite a while to figure out how to remove a campfire, and felt stupid asking about it. It might be a new player in said situation. :p

the best part is when you find stacks of stag beetle and fire beetle shells. :)

One person was actually insulted when I asked them to pick up their trash the other day. Sometimes I wonder if people realize it causes lag.

The server could better fight this too, by eliminating worthless loot from the loot table or making them worth at least 1 gp.

I'm bumping this.

I've been seeing a lot of loot bags lately, please pick them up guys. :)

For the new players: You can create fire camps via the PC tools.

PC Tools --> Build Campire

You throw all the undesirables into it and destroy it via the PC tools as well.

PC Tools --> Miscellaneous --> Remove (click the campfire)

Just a friendly reminder, cheers!

While some in qc and dev are reviewing the loot tables they are robust and varied, it's not as simple as just removing worthless loot...especially since, as examples above indicate, some folks consider loot that CAN be sold to still be worthy of dropping in the ground. End of the day there is always going to be some piece of unwanted loot and the proper method of dropping said loot is either selling to a vendor, placing in a trash barrel or in a camp fire.

There are reminders of this in game too, some people just don't seem to care that it causes lag.

Aside the already existing reminder on picking up loot bags, this should also be inclueded into the tips&tricks of the load screens.

Hey, let's simmer down a bit here. I don't mind that people leave loot bags all over the Cloakwood when they fight lizards, those are free bags of coins for me when I pass through.

I'm a little more understanding of this. Loot bags take several seconds to show up, and it's not uncommon to be attacked by multiple mobs. Forgetting where you killed a mob only to have it spawn a loot bag is quite common and an innocent mistake.

In regards to the original post: I think having a trash bin next to the major vendors (Blunt, the dwarf at FAI, etc) would go a long way in cutting down trash. Building a campfire, loading it up with your junk, scrolling down to "remove object" in the PC menu, clicking on the campfire is several steps. Make it easy for players to do the right thing: add a clearly visible trash-bin next to all major vendors to help reduce lag.

How about any valueless loot you leave on the ground turns into acid/fire bombs and teleports back into your inventory and explodes? I think that would be fun >:)

Need an inventory tool that simply disappears items. Like the renaming tool. Activate trash devourer, click on items, answer yes/no popup. Garbage gone.
