Tielflings and Tails

Unread post by Dreme »

I would like to RP my tielfling as having a tail.. but after asking a DM who passed the question to a senior DM, the idea was rejected.. I would like to know why my character can't have a cosmetic tail? O.o In D&D, outside of RP it has no real uses.. it is just there.. So it is not as though it would give a statistical advantage that my character doesn't possess... Infact to continue hiding her tielfling appearance, she would have it wrapped around her waist like a belt, until she decided to use it some time (mostly for the fun of emoting a tail!). The reason can't be that "Your character can't be seen as having a tail from looking at it's model". The same can be said for scars, tattoos, missing limbs, ears, and such, as well as basic remodeling of clothes people often use, amulets, pendants, symbols.. etcetera..

Tieflings can roleplay having non-prehensile tails if they choose. They won't have the character models for them, however.

Keep in mind that while it's a common trait among tieflings, not every tiefling needs to have a tail...

Not every tiefling is born with a tail. Their physical traits vary. The more they differ from standard humans, the more unlikely they are to be born and to survive childhood.

Tails aren't poisonous and can't be treated as a weapon. It's just a tail. :geek:
