DM Harbinger's Machinations

Why did it have to be snakes?

Characters:
17~ participants. (Along with DM Ghost, thank you Ghost!)

Summary:
After hearing rumors of a colossal snake large enough to crush wagons, Vlad Ulkmonia of the Gur caravan called adventurers far and wide in for a hunt. Sending the adventurers (who Vlad thought were surely off to their deaths) to a clearing north of the Chionthar, through overwhelming numbers and skill, they quickly dispatched the large serpent and it's snakey associates. The adventurers brought back the snake's head to Vlad, who was surprised the adventurers had lived. After getting a closer look at the head, Vlad seemed disappointed, indicating the rumors of its size had been greatly exaggerated. Vlad nonetheless accepted the head and offered the adventurers a reward, dire bear teeth with intricate designs carved onto them, possibly signifying good wealth, luck or health.

Rewards:
500 XP/GP to participants
A snazzy carved bear tooth to those who brought back the snake head.

Who's Hunting Whom?

Characters:
Silencio
Bastian
Taran Seven
Syclya Tsarion
Some sneaks

Summary:
A group of adventurers are heading north along the tradeway when they spot a hulking wolf-like creature consuming a corpse. The creature, also spotting them, darts off into the wilderness. Being adventurers, they give chase to the unknown creature, eventually losing sight of it.

An elven ranger that was stalking the creature in preparation for a kill approaches the adventurers and berates them for ruining his chance. After taking a moment to calm himself, the ranger explains to the adventurers that the creature was a Barghest and that it had been consuming travellers from around the area. The ranger, Caelas Maisar, accepts the adventurers help in hunting down the creature.

Caelas begins tracking the creature, quickly losing the tracks due to bad weather, Syclya manages to pick up on the tracks, following them to a small forest clearing. Along the way, Silencio recalls that barghests are generally untrackable, which led him to believe they are walking into a trap. Showing no caution in the face of a trap, the adventurers proceed onwards, following the tracks to not a wolf-like creature, but an eight foot tall goblin-like creature, wielding a greataxe. The creature says a single line as some of the adventurers notice that the barghest is not alone, there are worgs hiding in the nearby bushes.

The barghest and worgs attack the group, but fall to the combined might of the adventurers and ranger. Caelas, positively ecstatic about managing to take down the barghest, throws the adventurers a bag of coins and sends them on their way, but not before the ranger receives some unexpected affection from Syclya.

Rewards:
1000 XP, 500 GP to participants
