Nadine Xe'Rena. Bio and Journal

Unread post by Garion Thelas »

First Name: Nadine
Last Name: Xe’rena

Appearance:
Race: Halfling
Age: 36
Height: 2’6” (Short even for a Halfing)
Weight: 28 Pounds
Eyes: Deep Blue
Hair: Dirty Blonde
Facial Hair Style: None

Personality Profile:
General Health: Nadine is in very good health due to her preference for being outdoors, breathing fresh air and exercising while eating fresh meats and fruits from hunting.

Deity: Gwaeron Windstorm (Non Practicing)

Initial Alignment: LG (Not due to any sort of lawful or moral code in particular. Nadine more or less conducts herself as she pleases. She generally applies to given laws though mostly due to the inconvenience breaking them brings. She is by nature kind and friendly but sees no obligation to be ‘good’ per say.

Profession: Basic survivalism skills. Bandaging wounds, dressing carcasses etc

Base Class & Proposed Development: Ranger/Sorc in roughly equal measure. Perhaps some form of PrC later which combines the two.

Habits/Hobbies: Friendly and informal. Nadine has little regard or respect for rank and status of an individual, this is not to be disrespectful per say. Nadine just doesn’t feel extravagant titles or ranks afford anyone differing treatment. She will happily approach and attempt to befriend almost anyone with a naive cheerfulness. Infact naive and friendly are probably the two most effective words for describing Nadine and her mannerisms.

In her spare time Nadine generally likes to wander less populated areas and sniff about for some fun. That being said she is a social butterfly and will happily approach any wanderers she spots.

Languages: Common and Halfling

Weapon of Choice: Shortbow

Background: Growing up in a relatively small (hehe) Halfling community near the Border Forests Nadine had a typically normal upbringing until the age of 15 where things started to go awry. Being a hormonal, irritable and irrational teenger is not unusual but it seems to have unlocked some form of innate magical ability. This manifested itself in a raw, uncontrolled manner and caused all kinds of issues for Nadine, her family and community. Eventually it was decided that Nadine would have to learn some form of control over her ability, namely through study or perhaps even being sent to an academy. This solution was completely unbearable to Nadine who considered all forms of study to be ‘boring’ and ‘stuffy’ and generally disinteresting. Nadine (in her teenage mind) reasoned that the only reason these things were happening was because everyone around her was being so irrational and stuck up.

Eventually after setting fire to her friends barn during an argument about who got to go out with one of their mutual friends an ultimatum was delivered to Nadine. Her belongings were to be packed and she could either consent to delving into study at home with a tutor, or be shipped off to Shadowdale to join an academy. Well Nadine wasn’t going to have any of it. She took what few items were available, including the shortbow she had been practicing and headed off into the Border Forest. Intent in the typical way to ‘show them all’. Inevitably it was a short while until Nadine became lost, hungry, cold, tired and afraid. While she had played in the forest as most did, her bitter flight was haphazard and deeper in than any had dared. Eventually the utterly defeated Nadine curled up beside an ancient tree and began to sob.

This would have been the end of the story if it were not for the fact a small coven (Group.. Herd...Flock?) of Dryads investigated and eventually came to the rescue of Nadine. So she spent the next decade or so living among the Dryads. Learning their manners and mannerisms, how to survive in the wilderness and occasionally practicing her bowmanship. Eventually as she matured Nadine came to realise just how selfish and irresponsible her actions were back at home. This drove her inwards, full of shame and regret at her self imposed exile but too guilty to return. Soon afterwards she began to tire of the reclusive nature of her Dryad sisters. They were charming and friendly for sure, but there had to be more to it than that. Unable to bring herself to return home, but decidedly bored Nadine said her goodbyes and left the Border Forest, hitching a ride on the first caravan that came by with little care for where it took her.

Goals: The only real goal Nadine has is to enjoy her new life, gain control over the arcane ability she has ignored for so long (and is frankly a little ashamed of) and somehow get over the guilt of abandoning her home decades ago.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Nadine is largely an open book with no particular goals. As such she is more or less at the whim of DM’s with no particular aim :)
