Born into a family which revolved around coin, Lucas learned the basics of mercantile. Having merchants as parents, he grew up thinking the world too ran on coin. The only other item other than gold his family sought were golems, though Lucas cannot recall a time where any of them moved under his parents' roof.
It wasn't until a rather dim-witted human sold a book to Lucas' father, that Lucas was introduced to the Art. When he casually read a few words aloud, he spouted fire from the palm of his hand. Bewildered and awestruck by the flash of fire he had evoked, he wanted to see more, he wanted to learn more, he wanted to master all there was in the book he had read. His father, George Wayfare, saw this as an opportunity to distract his son, so that he could focus on his trade of coins. Mary Wayfare, Lucas' mother, began to give any and all books they happened across directly to Lucas.
In his late teens, Lucas was accepted into Candlekeep, where he studied evocation, the magic that had bewildered him as a child. Soon after being accepted, he began to explore the use of magic using the draconian tongue. Where he hope his research will prove as fruitful as to create new spells for all in the arcane arts.
