Any details for Arcane Conversion?

Unread post by Kaithian »

Hey All,

I've been playing for a few weeks now, and I'm having a blast! Thanks to everyone for helping to make this really cool world for us to experience :)

With that, I do have a question. I noticed that my Sorcerer has a spontaneous casting button called Arcane Conversion, and when I try it, it seems like he makes a concentration check, and if he succeeds, I'm able to do damage to a target that's appropriate to the level of the spell.

In an effort to find out more about it, I've searched around on Google and on the forums to see if I could find out all of the rules and mechanics tied to it, but I haven't had any luck.

Is there anyone who can point me to a write-up on it? Like I said, I noticed that a concentration check is required for an Arcane Conversion to work properly, but I don't know if there's any feats I should take (like Combat casting) or other skills (like SpellCraft) that would weigh in the outcome, or if there's anything else I should know.

Thanks in advance for your time and attention!

It's used for archmages with the Arcane Fire high arcana. To every other caster, it just does random things.

Nëa the Little Shadow

Thanks Deathgrowl!

That does help some. I'll read up on the Arcane Fire feat for the Archmage.

If an arcane caster is not an Archmage, is the presence of the conversion mode just an artifact of the possibility that you might take that class with no IC reason to attempt it?

If there's not a character reason not to try it, is there a table of possible outcomes?
