It is a very good spell/creature, but only sometimes. What bothers me to no end is the fact that the summon wastes alot of rounds to use wands/scrolls before actually attacking, not to mention that the scrolls/wands that they use are very often completely useless for the scenario when you just want a big fat creature to beat things up with. When they are finished buffing their useless buffs the fight has most likely ended already. Even if they ocassionally do use good buffs, it will not be worth it considering the short duration of the creature.
One easy quick fix that I can imagine would be to make the simulacrum get alot of negative UMD (40-50, just in case?), so they wont be able to use the scrolls and wands.
Sure, they use potions sometimes too, but it seems to be less of a problem.

Re: Shadow Simulacrum
doubtful that spell will get any changes than what it already has
an issue with scrolls and wands means you are likely using it on a player and then that becomes more a pvp issue than a pve one, even if the player is in your party

It was in Pve that I based my examples of. You use it on a player for the shadow to attack the monsters. It is a Pve problem too.
You rarely use it on other monsters.

Re: Shadow Simulacrum
yea and thats the same thing i was thinkin of as well, still the change is suggested because it is a player copy
copy someone who doesnt use UMD, the use of items is an AI thing and its unlikely to be changed

Re: Shadow Simulacrum
Shouldn't it be possible to adjust the AI of your summons in your own party using the Behavior tab in your Character Window? I don't know if it extends to Summons or if it just goes for Companions/Cohorts, but if it does I'm pretty sure there is a button to disable item usage.

Its my understanding that the AI has been adjusted to reduce lag. So, I doubt there will be any changes since it may be a server performance issue.
Your best bet is to right click on the creature portrait and order it to attack. You might need to do this more than once. Keyboard shortcuts are also an option, but, it may be that the former is more effective in combat.

Re: Shadow Simulacrum
I personally do not know what actually makes the AI tick. The thing about my suggestion is that the AI does not have to be changed in any way, since it is just reducing the stats on the summon. Although, there might be an oversight in my suggestion considering my lack of insight in the AI, I also have no real clue how hard it would be to implement, but so far I cannot see any fault in it, except for possible balance reasons.
Regarding the AI screen and preventing them from using wands/potions/spells seem to work, and it even seems to be saved. But only on that specific player that I use the simulacrum on. If I want to use it on someone else then I have to do it all over again, or something similar. Eitherway it is incredibly clunky and unreliable. It might not even work at all and just be coincidence. Maybe the player I tested it on did not even have UMD, I simply cannot be sure. And I would rather not have to mechanically test the spell every single time I use it when I am in the middle of RP, an event or a fight that I would rather focus on.
