About two inches on my minimap.

No but seriously. I suspect its width differs as you go further inland, but as far as its size around Baldur's Gate (regarding the river at Wyrm's Crossing, the big bridge in game):
Murder in Baldur's Gate, page 26 wrote:The bridge's two spans extend from shore directly to Wyrm's Rock. The river's depth and the bridge's high arches allow most ships to pass unhindered. However, the largest sailing vessels must pass on the northern side of Wyrm's Rock, where the water is at its deepest.
On the river itself, and the city's placement on it:
Ibid., page 6 wrote:The River Chionthar wends west along the southern edge of the Fields of the Dead. Baldur’s Gate sits some forty miles from the coast and a few miles east of the head of tide, making its harbor safe from rising waters unless exceptional rains inland cause flooding. Sailing to the city in a seagoing caravel takes about a day.
Per this map, it's maybe roughly half-a-mile wide? But as the above suggests, it's not always deep enough to carry large oceangoing vessels with deep drafts:

Right, so with a BOL of 3.5 and bowspirit length of 20metres... The Wanderess is 1/160th of the river in width. Thanks!

Rather than starting a new topic, can I ask how the rivers name is pronounced? Always wondered about that :o
