Basque orcs???

Unread post by freekender »

I have just found a very funny and interesting thing about the orc language in the server. And is that it uses Basque words, a language spoken in a region in the north of Spain called the Basque Country, where I live, and in the south of France (French Basque Country). The fact is that the phrases are not completely correct, it seems to use a word-by-word translation, and some words are not taken from the Basque. I swear I am still laughing about it, I know we basque people are a bit brute but... orcs? Oh my, this is a good one. :lol: :lol: :lol:
Myrualae - Chantress of Doron Amar
Snow - Sorcery and carrots!
Gomez de Aguirre - The Fabulous Knight of the Mystic Fire
Uelaereene Sai'zzel - Once I saw the stars...
Lilly Sai'zzel - Stormy snowflake
And more...

Thanks for the tip Snook, but the fact is that Basque do not sound as an orc could talk. Maybe German is more suitable for orcs? :lol: Now seriously, I wonder why, whoever did all the stuff involving the languages, chose Basque, because it is spoken by few people (compared, for example, to German).

Here some examples (songs) of how does Basque sounds, it is a soft and very melodic language:

Oh, and I'm still laughing about this :lol:

One of the game languages is pretty much German. A few words may be slightly altered but the core of them are most definitely German.

Luskan is mainly from german words. Would have been more fitting to have english for a pirate bunch i`d think.

Was a different one then luskan... one of the less used ones.

Easy to tell its German due to some of the words and phrases.

For example: I kommin = i am coming.

Icht = I

Sprachen = Speak

Mensch = Man
