Spirit Shaman Spells

Unread post by tankteddy »

Hey guys, I am making a spirit shaman support time toon, was wondering if there was a list on Good Spell selections for Druid/Spirit Shamans. I have seen one for wizards/sorc and Cleric Favored soul.

Biggest thing is deciding whether to be a charisma caster or a wisdom caster, as the spellbooks end up quite different
I never make mistakes…I thought I did once; but I was wrong.

Buffs and no save spells. Vigors/Regens. Spells that don't have limited usage by level (Sleep). Animal buffs only if you intend on using Telthor/Phantom summons. Avoid redundant spells (if you pick up Death Ward there's no need to pick up Restoration, and vice versa). You're essentially a sorcerer druid and have to pick spells like a sorcerer does.

You get six spell choices per spell level (except for 8 and 9, which are five and four respectively). This actually gives you most of the good spells without much effort, it's pretty easy to tell which ones aren't worth it.

Spells I'd avoid: Skill buffs (Camouflage, etc), cure spells (unless you have no better option for the level. Regen spells get you more bang for the buck), vision spells (you have a minimum of 6 Lights per rest, you don't need lowlight/dark), Magic Fang (get Greater Magic Fang instead), Summons, Snake's Swiftness (both versions), Dispels, Holds, Dominates, Owl's Wisdom/Insight (bonus spells are determined on rest, and your spells don't use Wisdom for DCs), Crumble (too limited), Mass buffs (that level already has so many useful spells, and if you need to buff multiple people you're a spontaneous caster and can afford to do it individually). RP spells are valuable or not depending on how RP-involved you want your character to be.

Spells to replace as you level: Barkskin should be replaced once you get Spiderskin, and Spiderskin can get replaced when you get Tortoise Skin (make sure to have Freedom of Movement if you pick up Tortoise). Stoneskin can be replaced with Greater Stoneskin, and Greater Stoneskin should be replaced with Premonition.

Once you weed out the spells you absolutely don't want, you'll find the choice on what to take becomes a lot easier. The hardest spell levels to pick for are level 2 and level 5, in my opinion.
