Could this somehow work? (Cleric)

Unread post by ctothep »

Hello,

So i am wondering if this character i have in mind would somehow be possible to realise without being complete rubbish. I understand that i am pretty much trying to gimp ths cleric as much as possible here but i do not care as much for engine power. However it would be nice if it could atleast be decent.

Here is what i'd want from the build:

- Human, Moon-Elf or Tiefling
- Cleric (either full or split)
- No Armor (Cloth)
- Uses a longsword preferably without shield, basically 1handing a longsword

I know you probuilders are probably already shaking your heads but i'd greatly appreciate if someone could give some advice :P . As i've said, i do not care for engine power that much, however it shouldnt be complete garbage ... if that is even possible given what i would like to get out of this cleric.

Thanks!

It can work, especially if you cleverly choose a deity that can be lawful. Then multiclass with monk to use WIS for AC. It wont be bad at all.

He could be lawful, yes. So i suppose Monk would be a possibility.

Monk is a great choice actually. Opens up tumble, evasion and detection skills.

Those monk qualities are needed to to shore up on your mechanical losses. Are you building a caster cleric or a melee cleric?

Either way, the caster cleric (maximize wisdom) helps your AC in combination with monk, and a melee version gets evasion from monk for that expose weakness power.

How would you go about this? What kind of split? Just Cleric / Monk or add in a PRC or something? I think Duelist would be quite nice since he will be using a 1h weapon without shield however it seems that that class is more tailored to dex-based builds which is not really an option for a longsword swinging type of guy. I don't think i will be able to raise int that much either.

What kind of split would you recommend? Also how would you allocate stats?

@Karond:

Melee typish guy... however i do not care for EDM shenanigans

Thanks!

Probably 26 Cleric, 4 Monk no matter if its Melee or Caster. This is because you get two more epic feats then. You can get the same with 16 Cleric, 4 Monk, 10 hospitaler, but the loss of 4 CL is pricy in return for one non-epic feat and martial profiency. You really don't want to lose CL.

16 Cleric, 10 Hierophant, 4 Monk would be good for a caster cleric, once the class is released. It's somewhat better than the 26 Cleric, 4 Monk version.

For stats, I would aim for 16-17 Wisdom, 12+ Intelligence (to afford tumble, concentration and spellcraft), average Dexterity, minimum of Charisma and max Strength as much as you can. Go for Able learner, and start with monk on level 1. You can skip Able learner with 14 Intelligence, cross-classing tumble.
