New to game, server, roleplay, all of it - Need Assistance.

Hi all you experts and good folk!

Just joined this fantastic server this week and boy have I been busy leveling up, roleplaying, joining a mercenary guild, getting robbed, had a heart stolen and even killed some kind of small dragon, but through it all I felt weak and not as strong as my comrades, thus I am coming to you guys for some advice!

I made a human Man at arms, my character choice is sort of a guy who used to bar-tend in Roarinshore but did his bit of being a bouncer/doorman, thus the big shield/club he has, of course Roaringshore being a cesspit of corruption now he is seeking his glory within the ebon Blades (Mercenary) where he is as green as green comes with no past training except throwing out drunks and being punched by larger drunks, thus able to take a lot of damage and hand some back.

But down to brass tactics, what should I aim for now that I am man at arms level 6?

My stats are as follows.

16 str
10 dex
19 con
12 int
8 wis
8 char

Feats I have taken so far in my ignorance are I think....

Charge.
Heavy armour focus
Toughness
Warhammer spec
Tower shield
Great fortitude

So basically going for the big shield guy approach, sort of like crowd control for roleplay and within dungeons/groups the guy taking the hits and able to give a bit back, keep the enemy foccused on me.

As I am new I might not understand some of the lingo/Abbreviations you guys use so do bear with me if I have questions if you are kind enough to give me some build/guide tips and what items to go for etc.

I recommend using the above website and create an account if you don't have one, and then utilize it to map out a build from start to finish - it will give the gurus here a better idea of what you're wanting to do, or what your line of thought is, and to provide tips and pros and cons.

Welcome to the server Kiran! You've got a great start with your character, with your backstory and joining a guild. Might I recommend posting your backstory in the character biography portion of the forums if you haven't yet? A DM will approve it and you'll receive a nice, little exp boost.

Other than the link YourMoveHolyMan kindly provided for you, you can also place build requests in the "Character Building" subforum. There are a number of players who know how to build characters and can certainly provide you with help with your character concept.

You may also submit a biography and inform the DM Team (via /tells or by PMing the "Associate DM" and "DM" groups) that you would like your biography to be reviewed/approved. If it checks out, we will approve it and give you a little chunk of EXP for your troubles.

If you have any questions or requests, feel free to drop a line to the DM Team. We are always available and we will do our best to answer any concerns that you may have.

Tried to builder but seems there is no option to pick man at arms as the first pick, or perhaps I am just being the idiot I usually am.. might just give the Character building a go, but thank you so kindly for the replies!

you can also level up your PC using JEGS testing module. the one issue with NWN2DB is that it is not configured to the changes in BG. You can select Kaedrin's pack in the builder, but that adds content we do not have and misses content we do have so not a perfect solution for every character concept. Nice thing about JEGS is you can test your build at various levels against comparable CR monsters. Just realize that as you get up on CR JEGS loses it's accuracy (i.e. over 25 CR is probably not going to be defeated except by a strong power build or by a player that really knows the mechanics like an expert).

You practically rolled a dwarf anyways xD. Well anyways Man At Arms is a fun class to play as. My advice is to keep stumbling through the build and learn the mechanics of the game over time rather than immediately rcr into a PowerBuilder. Your class has excellent survivability so regardless of DPS you will always be useful to save the squishy folks.
